Frank, the simple, honest, and accurate answer is yes!  You will see the benefit of the sharpness that you simply will not see on a non-4k monitor. You will love it! . 👍

By the way - you won't need to upscale to 5k even on a 4k monitor, as it will not give you any real benefit but will steal your performance.  4k on 4k will be pixel for pixel, which is native mode and simply the best if you can achieve it at 30fps+ (which your 3090 should).  TAA will still be active of course even at 4k 100% now (it was broken before the last patch at 100% apparently). 

My opinion is, with that card, 4k on a 4k monitor at 30+ fps on high/ultra settings is what you should aim for.  It will look superb.

I have TAA on at AF16 4x4, would I be turning those down, at 4k when the monitor is installed? Would I turn it down now while I simulate 4K?

I have experimented but see no gain of FPS when AF is set to AF8...

 

AF and Super Sampling seem to be broken at the moment, at least with their interaction with each other.  You will need AF on so that things like runway white lines look right, and x 16 doesn't seem to take any performance hit.

With super sampling, it doesn't seem to have much of an effect.  Some say it works if AF isnt turned on, but I haven't tried that.

I have a full 4k Samsung monitor, running at 4k (3840 x 2160), but only 80% scaling (as my 1080 just can't take full 4k, but hoping for a 3080 soon 🙂).

I then have TAA set to on (the only way really), and AFx16, SSx2.  At these settings, I haven't noticed any difference on my 4k monitor with SS at 2, or at 8.
Some say you don't need SS at all with the new TAA they have brought in to patch 5.  I do think AF makes a difference though.

If you do leave super sampling on for yourself, x2 is unlikely to hit performance, but it will bite a bit as you go up higher.  With TAA at 4k and AFx16, I can't actually see super sampling doing anything on my screen though.  I suspect it is actually broken, not working right, or disabled with TAA.  You can try it for yourself when you get your new 4k monitor. 😁

Definitely think you're on to something! I run at native 4K and gave SSx2 vs 4 vs 8 a try and the difference was negligible with TAA enabled. Will run it at 2 to give the GPU something else to munch on instead...

I just came across a Reddit post that describes what you are seeing and someone posted what worked for them

Fix: Sony Bravia Resets Picture Mode on Restart

(Even though it shows the correct picture mode, certain settings like low latency and enhanced HDMI reset).

Home > Settings > Network & Internet > Home network > IP control > Simple IP control > (enable this)

This may consume more energy during standby mode, but the idea is that your TV keeps more things running when off, which prevents the memory from shorting out.

The problem used to happen several times per day, but I’ve been running for 48 hours with no issues. Sony helped me figure this out. Thought I’d come share the wealth here. Enjoy!

Edit: going weeks now with no issues 🎉

Just so I am understanding each time you turn the TV back on you have to select "Game Mode" to get the low latency setting? With my birthday and Christmas fast approaching I was considering this TV as an upgrade to my 42" 1080P

Sorry at work - I have to go to settings button on remote bring up pic modes I move it 2 settings then come back to game mode - meaning movie then standard - then back to game mode then its all set

If I restart pc its fine if I shut everything down I have to change settings again

Rich now its working buddy - maybe one restart was needed all set now - how cool you will luv this tv - like a giant pc monitor not cartoonish tv looking - your the best Pal

Not sure how useful this info will be for you, but as a fellow Canadian I should mention that I've been simming for a couple of weeks with a 55" TCL 2018 6-series that I got for 500CAD on Prime Day, and it's an absolute beauty. Personally I think that a high end TV for flightsimming is overkill, unless you plan on using it for watching movies (my other TV is a LG OLED, and for movies it matters).

TCL is a great product but for me 43" is way big enough - 55" is way to big for my setup 🙂

Sounds like a sweet deal for a 55" LG OLED ! 

I have a 55" 1080P Panasonic in my Family room and may give that a try for a feeling on the size. With Black Friday & Christmas coming up I may wait and see what goes on sale.
