Hi,

Short after its release on other sim platforms, Berlin Tegel is now available for v4.4+ and v5.

 

This looks like a great rendition of this famous airport to replace my old Aerosoft one.

Its available from Orbx since they are now selling through the OrbxDirect channel. Screensots are there too.

A very nice airport. However in real life it will be closed when Berlin Brandenburg finally will be open. That is set to November 2020.

So when you buy it. Real life ac will stop on a short term. And if you are using Life Traffic ( P3D or MSFS ) you will not see any after the closure anymore...

 

Honestly not seeing the point. 
 

The airport is going to close for good in less than a month. 
 

Plus it’s a Gaya scenery so I assume performance is going to be terrible in P3D.

Oh, didn't know that. Bought both P3D and XP versions.. I guess it will serve its purpose for historical flights then. 

Darn it, I got it as well. Terrible performance as mentioned. A big sink hole between 26L and 26R.  The description when buying does not mention closure

The beauty of flightsims is that you can fly what you want, when you want, where you want. I would not stop me from flying there, as it still has historical significance.

First government flight landed this week. The government terminal is running.

The rest opens to the public on October 31st.

I would totally fly to Tempelhof. And I regularly fly to Kai Tak.

But Tegel isn't even a particularly interesting approach. The old terminal has its appeal but I just don't see myself flying there much, least of all with a Gaya Sim scenery considering their performance issues.

Would seem so.. I got some junk email from Easyjet about the new airport opening etc. Will be interesting what they decide to do with Schönefeld though. Tegel was a decent airport, but Schönefeld is what I could only describe as a bit of a dump and I'd be glad to never have to use it again

I agree, I traveled with Ryanair from Dublin to Berlin a few years ago. Schönefeld looked like an old school prefab hut we had in the '70's.

From my experience, Tegel made parts of London City feel spacious. It's also a faff to get to using public transport (not incuding taxis).
Brandenburg should finally give Germany's capital city an airport it merits.

The great thing about flight simming is that we don't have to replicate everything as it is in the real world.
Outdated airports like Hong Kong-Kai Tak, Istanbul-Atatürk, Narvik, and Meigs Field can all be retained in your sims and remain thoroughly enjoyable.

Rubbish if you weren't aware that it was closing, but given that air traffic levels are so poor, an empty Tegel isn't too far away from reality anyhow!

historically easyjet was getting a really good deal at SXF in regards to fees due to all the uncertainty and broken promises they had made with easy in regards to with BER. 

I remember (although some 8 years ago) being in meetings with the then head of easy ops saying how they were loving it with the mess of BER, and how much money they where making out of SXF.  I remember him saying "the longer they mess about at BER, the more money we will make, win win" 

They used to laugh out loud as to how much of a good deal they were getting whilst the Germans where paying a million euros a year just to keep the lights on at BER and how the train had to go through the tunnel every day at BER  just for safety reasons, even though the airport was empty.

I don't bother Tegel will be closed. I landed there for some 100 times in the past 20 years (as a passenger) and will enjoy landing there in P3D (as a virtual pilot).

Not directly, you're right. But I can smell a hint there: 'Tegel is the perfect place to perform some retro rotations'. 😁
On a more serious note though, Tegel used to be one of my favourite destinations in the sim (using the Aerosoft version), but as I enjoy doing real world routes, for me this one came much too late to bother.
