Is there a DC3 in the works?

Featured Replies

Aye, CBI, Cox’s Bazaar, Villavalencia and Normandy are waiting... hopefully Manfred Jahn, Jan Visser, Gordon, Ted et al are captivated by this new sim. I love their aeroplane so.

If anything, there are only two that have a good chance of getting ported over and that is the freeware one from Manfred or the one from Aeroplane Heaven.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

I'm hoping too, I know it's a niche plane and that many folks won't really want one, but I've flown it all over the world. I good flight model can be landed in the tightest of runways and is a joy. I love my modern aircraft too but am hoping for a DC3 soon.

I'd absolutely love a DC-3.

I get that MS has to have all licensed aircraft, but it would have been really nice to have 1 or 2 vintage or interesting in some other way aircraft as part of the default sim.... Even FSX:Steam has some neat things in the default aircraft.

I don’t think the door is closed to bringing some FSX classics over to MFS.

Would love a DC-3,  and a Connie.

Oh yes....Superb aircraft too, tornado hunter

Do you think we'd get the original rotary engines or the upgraded turbines?

I'd pay any reasonable amount of money for a good DC-3. However, having been spoiled with good models in other sims, I'd want realistic engine management. Not just slamming the throttles forward and not having to pay attention to manifold pressure, and so on.

Also good sounds. That's super important for a DC-3 or any radial engine aircraft. Ski and float plane variants would be nice, but not critical. I could do without the turbine retrofits. Getting the classic Twin Wasp engines right is the first priority.

Aeroplane Heaven have said they are making a MSFS native version of their DC-3.  Not sure of timing though.

I would love an original DC-3, the military C-47 version and a Basler BT-67 turboprop version.

Guys, to put one matter to rest. Whilst I am retiring from the hobby I have passed the source files on to a well-known modeller, who has my full permission to do with them whatever he wants. But the what, and the if and when, will be up to him to announce in due course.

We don't know what is happening, but we may still get a Manfred Jahn C-47 converted by someone else with his permission.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

My fondest hope is the @Gman5250 Gordon Madison’s evolution to @mjahn C-47 together with Jan Visser’s VVC, Ted’s sounds and @AMetzger’s FDE. IF THESE GENTS RELEASE ANYTHING - get it on your HD IMMEDIATELY.

They create magic amongst their ones and zeros!
