November 2, 20205 yr I'm getting poor performance in large urban centers like Los Angeles and Miami of a stuttering/pausing nature with the latest update. LA is by far the worst. Approaching LAX from the east, for example, I'm getting almost continuous random pauses lasting as long as one or two seconds. The sim is now unflyable for me in the A320 in this area. I've tried the route repeatedly including adding the area to the manual cache. Note, these are all photogrammetric areas. My sim and aircraft are totally stock - no add-ons. Are others seeing this? Ideas to the cause? Some great changes in this update, but this stuttering is a show stopper for me. November 2, 20205 yr I too see this these hard stutters and pauses in the LA area. They've been ever since I tried flying the downtown LA area a few months ago, but it's definitely now worse. Before anyone calls foul over my gcard, try flying this area at 5K ft. or lower with Ultra settings. Some actually find the sim more consistently attractive that way, as its very much like a refined version of X-plane with Orbx scenery. And as you can see, the lod is much expanded. I noticed this on a flight yesterday out of Oakland, CA Didn't experience it a week ago when I arrived. I guess it's to do with expanded LOD? Edited November 2, 20205 yr by ErichB

November 2, 20205 yr Noticed the same in my last flight over downtown Miami, not pauses but noticeably more stuttering (but still flyable). it should be something related to the improved graphics in this version 1.10.8, for sure. It’s a bit worse than in the previous version. We’d need to check our graphic settings to find out a new sweetspot, I guess. November 2, 20205 yr These stutters in the LAX area (mostly east around PDZ) have been there for a while. They are not performance related, rather some strange pauses while the sim does something in the background. Watch your CPU and GPU load and you will see there are no spikes, it really seems like the sim is pausing. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

I prefer the unified look of photogrammetry off as well, but I wish the autogen was more accurate at building height. I don't necessarily need to read the side of the building but in urban areas, each skyline is like a fingerprint, and when it doesn't match, then it feels wrong.

Yeah, the autogen is not necessarily as accurate as the photogrammetry, but with the increasing amount of points of interest and cityscape scenery that the third parties are creating, that can be compensated for, and creates an interesting New Market. My main point though, was to show that I'm not necessarily seeing the stuttering that was being reported, which raises the possibility that it might be Hardware related. We are all connected..... November 2, 20205 yr One thing that has worked for me for the pauses etc.. is setting the Processor scheduling to background services. An older tweak but just tried setting it back to programs whilst flying towards Philly yesterday and it immediately paused for 3 seconds and then began to micro stutter. Turned it back on and they were gone. Cmd line sysdm.cpl,3 Under the Advanced tab select Settings under Performance. Then the Advanced tab in the next window and select the Background services radio button.
