November 2, 20205 yr I bet I'm not alone in being slightly irritated by the @whoever_77 thing. Why? What does it signify? Is it a smart phone thing? Maybe a Twitter or Facelook thing. I don't know about the hundred or so other 'apps' where 'People shall talk cr4p unto people' *** *** Was once the motto of the BBC before they turned commie The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
November 2, 20205 yr No, you're not alone. I don't like it either. It really bothers me when someone refers to me that way. How did we ever get to this point? Maybe it's just a part of the fallout from the "social media" idiocy. November 2, 20205 yr My guess is that the use of the @ is a lazy way of wanting to reply to a specific person's post rather that type in a (sometimes convoluted) username. Although, given your username, Ron, I'd just spend less time typing your first name rather than @Ron Attwood whilst looking at the username dropdown the symbol brings up because there's a fair few Rons who are members here.... Yes, apart from the example above, I am guilty as charged for using this more and more. I shall endeavour not to do so 🍻 Mark Robinson Part-time Ferroequinologist Author of FLIGHT: A near-future short story (ebook available on amazon) I made the baby cry - A2A Simulations L-049 Constellation Sky Simulations MD-11 V2.2 Pilot. November 2, 20205 yr I don't do "social media". I don't understand the need for it at all, as in "who cares" ... Sue

November 3, 20205 yr I thought the "@" thing was a way of getting the forum to notify someone by direct email that they've been mentioned in a post. May be wrong of course! Edit: it's a Twitter thing https://www.dummies.com/social-media/twitter/the-1-twitter-mistake-reply-versus-mention/ Edited November 3, 20205 yr by Fizzelle L'addition
November 3, 20205 yr @Fizzelle That's exactly what it is but then that's not funny or witty, like @Ron Attwood's post.🙂🙁😁
