That is essentially your 25% gain right now if you move to locked @30 from 25... I've never seen the sim run @25hz so can't speak to that but would imagine unless your monitors are native 50hz not 60hz or 120hz that moving to 30FPS and 1/2 or 1/4 refresh might improve things a bit. Either way, enjoy it! Ooops... my apologies to you Paul 😁 All my vids are in 25 hertz. Will try 30 hertz. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

November 5, 20205 yr I would like to know if a 3090 is worth it against my Titan RTX 24GB. I am using it mainly with VR and normally I cann use every gain a card can give me. Now I am on 45 FPS average within P3D in almost ALL situations. That means 21,6ms Frametimes within Steam WMR VR. Below 20,0ms Frametime it is getting much better. Below 17,0ms very smooth So if the 20 to 25% gain is real, I would go from 21,7ms to round about 17,0ms or 18,0ms which means real smooth image because some spikes are staying below 21,6MS (=45FPS). Can someone give me a hint, advice or even feedback? Marcus Regards, Marcus P.
November 5, 20205 yr I haven't been lucky to find a 3090. Now with the rumors of the 3080TI I am now considering pushing back even more. I was prepared mentally to spend the 1500 US to get a 3090, but something tells me it was a blessing it didn't go through as the performance gains from everywhere I keep seeing in different sources are just not there for flight simming. November 6, 20205 yr I just ordered my RTX 3090 for VR use within P3D V5.1 with HP Reverb.....now G1 because G2 is still underway.... I will report back how many performance gain in FPS and Frametimes I see with this card compared to my Titan RTX 24GB. If the new 3090 is giving me at least 20% plus...I will keep it...if not....it goes on sale or back to my supplier! Fingers crossed..... November 6, 20205 yr It all depends on how you are using it, I have a 3070 , before i used a 2080 super. It does make a difference however only because i am using 3 screens ( no virtual cockpit) and only in bad weather, heavy rain and other heavy gpu limited scenarios. for users with memory issues a 10gb card would help but for me it is no issue. Most cases it is still cpu limited and not gpu limited so a 3090 seems to be overkill and way too expensive. New AMD cards coming out soon . Never used them with P3d but who knows thy might be very good, a lot cheaper and available.... Edited November 6, 20205 yr by remcosol
November 6, 20205 yr John, there may be some value in your claim relating to those who use 1080p monitors, but for those who drive large 4K monitors, all the perfformance tests and reviews I've seen, and there have been many, the 3090 does a sterling job and outweighs substantially it's predecessors. Whether the performance gain for any given scenario is worthwhile from a financial point of view, well that is purely subjective. BTW, unsure about the video posted by De Campo earlier, but that is definietly not what I have seen in many other tests.
