Seems to me the whole point of the large download/update from the MS Store today was the USA World Update. So after downloading from the MS store, why should an additional update from the Market Place be needed -- why isn't that 'built in' to the first update? Seems like a strange way to do things. Al The first Update on core Game content is always launched via ms store. Then at the „set your experience“ screen the remaining core content is updated which are the base files. What comes on top via content manager are all „voluntary“ installed files like optional content. That’s how I see / try to understand it 😉 Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

Probably to minimise the download for anyone not interested in flying in the updated region. The content from the Marketplace includes at least the hand-crafted airports and landmarks, not sure about the mesh or the imagery (which are probably streamed in anyway). 13 minutes ago, marsman2020 said: There is a lot that is weird about the package management. For example, why do I have to scroll through the Content Manager and update a few things manually after every update. It's really kludged together. Haven't done so myself yet, but I believe you can click "Toggle All" and then update everything at once. 4 minutes ago, tweekz said: Didn't try it out yet, but I feel like we need quite the opposite. Al What difference does it make? It's the same way they did Japan. I swear some of you guys just complain about anything. Who knows why Asobo did it that way. Has to be a reason, geez

Anybody else? Won’t complain for a free (!) scenery but I am sure it can be done better. Besides that happy so far. Will need to do further testing tomorrow The GC is quite long (277 miles long), so not sure what part you are referring to, but I'm sure there are some errors in the overall area... Grand Canyon would need Photogrammetry or custom render to do it justice, like the Zion or Monument Valley freeware addons. That said, having personally been to all these places (and to most NP's in the US), the Grand Canyon is not really even in my top 20, though it does look a lot better with snow (the top half at 5000+ elev was covered in snow last time I went). The issue is the GC has pretty harsh colors and a bit of a harsh look even in real life, so translate it to a game with imperfect ortho and it kind of adds to the harshness of the place. The cliffs are also just way too steep for any orthoimagery to ever do it justice. Edited November 24, 20205 yr by SceneryFX AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

I agree that it is disappointing and surprising that the announced elevation data does not cover the entire country. November 24, 20205 yr There is also a lot of free high quality Ortho available that Asobo could be using, not as much in the western US (some), but quite a bit in the Eastern US that was made by local states GIS services. Plus even the Bing imagery is actually way higher quality than we are seeing in the game (I used to fly with Bing over Colorado using TileProxy and Ortho4XP, and there is a lot of high-res ortho there from Bing). It seems Asobo downscales everything to about 80cm regardless of the source, I wish they would change this, but I know why they do it. Most likely it is because they know a lot of people have download caps now (thanks ISPs), and if they went to 60cm or higher it would quickly blow away peoples download limits and people would sometimes be faced with bills for hundreds of dollars. I don't really know the actual CM they are using in the Ortho, but to me with the compression they use, and how it looks (and I did a lot of Ortho dev over the years), my best guess is about 80cm (equivalent image fidelity) is the cap of their ortho.
