MSFS - Xbox Series X|S Announcement Trailer

Featured Replies

Looking forward to them adding those power ups floating under the Golden Gate bridge that will make your 747 fly at Mach 1 if you pick them up whilst inverted. It will add some much-needed realism to the sim. 🙂

If you think I'm joking, I had my little young relative having a go on my MSFS last night, and despite me offering to tell him how to fly properly and suggesting he start on something small and slow, all he really wanted to do was crash the 747 into the control tower at Manchester on external view (he missed it), then he went back to bunny hopping and shooting people on Fortnight on his XBox. I also managed to prevent him from causing havoc online at JFK and wanting to crash into other players, despite his protestations. 🤣

Still, if it helps to fund the sim, it's not a big deal, except maybe to those who get annoyed about being buzzed by pink Focke-Wulf 190s whilst they are doing their Vatsim malarkey.

So you watched the video and actually seen where details were removed? What are you comparing this to? Some of you guys crack me 🤦🏿‍♂️ 😂 😂 😂

I compared it to the way the PC version looks on higher settings...?  What else would I compare it to?

It's not criticism.  The XSX costs $500; there are inevitably going to be some visual compromises to get it to run at an acceptable framerate.

Let's not forget that it's just a trailer.

We all know how it ended up with PC trailers...

Curious to know why you would need a keyboard and mouse on a console? Isn't it developed to not use them since a console only has a controller? I get a joystick and such being added, but why a keyboard and mouse? Do any other games support keyboard and mouse on console?

The Xbox and Playstation have changed over the last couple of iterations. They're - more or less - just small(ish)* form factor PCs now. And with a nice bit of horsepower under the bonnet in the latest versions.

* Although the size of the PS5 is not a million miles off a PC now.

A new XBox costs less than a high end graphics card, so if you can have the same features and framerates .......

Consoles typically match the in game performance of a top spec pc when they are first released through a combination of high spec tightly integrated electronics and highly optimised code for precisely those electronics. After a couple of years the pc will start to pull ahead again as new electronics are used to upgrade the pc. It does take some time for the pc to pull ahead as developers really start getting to really optimise the console code post launch. For those that have invested in a very high end pc with multiple screens and peripherals there will be little incentive to get a Series X but for the vast majority with a lower spec pc or are reluctant to spend big upgrading their pc then the Series X looks to be a very attractive option.

So I am guessing a lot of Xbox users have some version of Game Pass? But they can also purchase games also correct? And the S is only digital and the X is both physical and digital? Will the next versions of consoles drop the physical, or will it be awhile?

Plus first version of MSFS on a console, should be interesting. Hope those millions of console owners help with the income for MSFS.

Think we will ever see a phone or tablet version in the far future? Or is that already here with that Microsoft or Xbox, play it anywhere stuff? I have no idea what it is called, or if it even exist?

Just asking!

Also, wonder if they will add an Xbox MSFS specific sub forum or something here? Especially if say we can all fly multiplayer together across Xbox and PC?

My daughter's MS Surface Pro 6 will play it and it is a tablet. Further you can 'play' any XBOX game on your Android phone with a Bluetooth Xbox controller linked to your phone (Xbox effectively beams visuals to phone and takes controller inputs from phone). Xbox owners can use disc, paid download, Game Pass download. If their device does not have a disc drive then they can't use disc option (Xbox One S and Xbox Series S). The pressure from gamers to keep discs is so that they can be traded after playing. Downloads can't be traded although there is limited sharing (two friends can share one game).

Don't understand what you are saying

My point is that XBOX footage does not look dumb down and in 4K, and with the same controllers as the PC available next year i don`t see gamers then buying a PC for MSFS, you still have PC users using 1080p to run it.

Unfortunately, you are very correct in your assumptions!

Anyone who thinks the X Box release will push this genre forward in a realistic "sim like" experience is living in a fairytale world!

I've spoken to several people who want to get it for X Box but are totally uninterested in the realistic "Flight Sim" aspect and just want to fly 747's under bridges, and weave through the buildings in NYC, in 3rd person view...

I also expect Aboso to cater heavily to this crowd once it's released to further push the X box sales.

If Forza XBOX versus PC is anything to go by then the XBOX version of MSFS will be near identical to PC version.

I am more than concerned about the Gamepass people vs the xBox people. I saw this once they started putting the Forza racing games on Gamepass. While there has always been a percentage of the online players that liked to just cause grief to others, it exploded with the release on Gamepass. I have no doubt that we will see players that whole reason for installing MSFS will be to just see how many other planes they can knock out of the sky. While they do sometimes get banned for it in Forza, they still continue to do it. With it being on Gamepass they are not out any $$$, so they just continue to do it until the 3rd ban which is for 20 years. Then some of them just change their GT and start over. That lasts until they get an IP ban. Happens all the time. I, in a way, hope that they keep PC and xBox online separate, but I doubt that will be the case. And I really hope that they don't start hiding content behind weekly "chores" like they have with Horizon 4.
