Then you can play MSFS Standard on either PC or Xbox at no additional cost and IF you bought your addon's via the Marketplace they will work on both platforms? I sure hope so, i might in the future go down the Payware road. 😉
December 11, 20205 yr I just bought Xbox Series X yesterday because I decided (and it was hard to decide) not to invest to new PC but buy "cheap" XBOX. What do you think about support of sticks which are not supported by XBOX right now? I have Warthog HOTAS and Saitek pedals and I would really love to use them with Xbox in future, do you think it is just software problem or also somehow related to hardware? I really do not want to buy any other stick just because of XBOX.

I really do not want to buy any other stick just because of XBOX. The hardware needs a security chip in order to operate. There have been devices available that get round this. There is certainly DriveHub that does the conversion for racing wheels. I used to use one of these and it was excellent. Don't know what is available for Joysticks. CJ

A lot of addons may not be supported on XBox. For starters, VATSIM. What about Little NavMap? And 3rd party releases, especially the ones requiring that you download the 3rd party installer, probably won't be supported on XBox either. The MSFS marketplace is very slow to update the 3rd party add ons, sometimes not even one month after a product is released, it's still not in the MSFS marketplace. And of course, PC will always have more hardware options. I'm not sure that every joystick or HOTAS that you can choose for MSFS on PC will also be useable on XBox. To get the best experience in MSFS, it will probably always be PC. Edited December 11, 20205 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

In one of the recent updates, or maybe it was the Q&A, they did acknowledge they needed to provide more resources to support the marketplace so that new products and updates arrived faster so hopefully things will improve in a few months time. I don't necessarily disagree with your view though. Give people power to really test their personality.
December 11, 20205 yr I am curious about the peripherals USB port availability on the XBox/X. My current PC MSFS set up uses 4 USB ports. (Joystick, wireless keyboard & Mouse, X-Box controller for the Drone Camera & the Internet is connected via a USB Toggle) T45

Reviving MSFS was always about Azure and Game Pass, with Xbox sales a distant secondary consideration. If they cared about Xbox sales, they'd have released both versions day-and-date, or had it for the launch of the new console at least. Instead it'll come a year later, with deflated buzz since it's already on PC - because the sim was always intended to be a PC-centric project. That's where their long-term playerbase is, and thus that's where their long-term revenue streams are - the 30% cut of marketplace sales, and DLC sales of their own. Microsoft's gaming strategy revolves around Game Pass. It's why they spent $7.5 billion dollars on studios in September, and pledged to buy more. They want the dev capacity to be making something for everyone, available on Game Pass. Flight Sim is one cog in that machine.
December 11, 20205 yr Author There is some information in the official press article regarding updates and hardware compatibility on the Xbox. https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/12/10/microsoft-flight-simulator-coming-to-xbox-series-xs-summer-2021/ Quote When launching Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC earlier this year, we said that this was only the beginning of our journey to make the best simulation possible. As we continue adding to the sim with free World Updates, themed DLC bundles, and other improvements, Xbox Series X|S simmers can expect these updates to arrive on console as well. We’re also working with several third-party partners to bring additional peripherals to Xbox Series X|S that will make your console simming experience even more immersive.
