I have no idea I didn’t look it up at the time. There is no ‘lag’ because it’s not technically real time weather, since it’s based on forecast models. So it won’t ever match real life 1:1. It can get real close. I guess there could be lag between what’s in the sim and what the forcast says there should be. I’ve seen reports of that. Asobo claims the weather right around airports is based on METAR, and I have seen it match sometimes, with wind, temperature and atmospheric pressure is usually matching the metar report for the airport. December 31, 20205 yr I’ve been very critical of the live weather in MSFS but I have to give credit where it’s due, it does seem to be getting more reliable and closer to accurate in my experience. Still room for improvement however. When using live weather: Spawn to a gate/runway with Preset 'Clear Skies', only once spawned chose 'Live Weather'. It takes a second or two to load (depending on internet/server connection). This works, at least for me every time. Great suggestion. I have been getting good results by setting Clear Weather in the flight setup menu then changing to live weather once the flight loads, works well for me. \Robert Hamlich/

No worries, I don’t expect it to be exact. Just really plausible. I only ask because I have been getting reliable weather with everything except clouds....it’s been clear. I’m trying to figure out if it’s something on my end. thanks for replying! FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠 Matt Kubanda, 7950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 5090@4k, MSFS 2024

It's not something on your end.. many of us experience the same cloud coverage issues as you. There are 2 alternatives to getting perfect weather every flight - 1) Buy REX or 2) Install the mod Unreal Weather - Live Metar. . I use Unreal Weather and find it VERY reliable. 🙂 Quote
January 1, 20215 yr There are issues, but it has gotten better. For instance, I loaded an area just north of Del Rio earlier this morning (on the fringe of the Texas blizzard), and it was mixed precip without it sticking on the ground (it was actually showing a mix of rain and snow in the game shockingly without it sticking just like IRL). But then I fly NW where it was sticking, and it was unrealistically far before I saw it on the ground. Edited January 1, 20215 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
January 1, 20215 yr I don’t think it’s meant to show snow lives as it builds but would rely on data collected after snow falls are complete and there are snow depths established. There were snow depths, it was a literal blizzard where I eventually flew to, some places had 2 feet of snow. It had already been snowing 8+ hours where I flew over 🙂 They still have a synch issue in reading the prediction, but it's not too bad anymore. January 4, 20215 yr I have yet to see any snow where snow should be in the Northeastern US while using live weather. I've concluded the latest update has done zero to replicate snow depth. Where I fly looks like perpetual summertime. Edited January 4, 20215 yr by NightOfDreams

But seeing them in summertime this time of year just looks silly, so I've been using custom weather to add snow depth. Then the mountains look stunning! I'd prefer to use Live Weather but I want winter where it should be winter!! Edited January 4, 20215 yr by NightOfDreams

January 4, 20215 yr I have no idea how it works I just know that the surrounds and airport all looked very believable in terms of snow. One thing I think we need to remember is all of this is a work in progress. What I'm seeing is a platform that can adapt to new possibilities.
