December 25, 20205 yr The connection between Asobo and Meteoblu has always been poor. Just another thing in the live weather that’s off.
December 25, 20205 yr Occurrence of snow should be where indicated on this map: https://www.meteoblue.com/en/weather/webmap/beta/range-regional-airport_united-states-of-america_5021092#coords=4.32/46.98/-92.34&map=snowDepth~hourly~auto~sfc~none I tested it extensively over the last few days and it is pretty closely depicted. When using live weather: Spawn to a gate/runway with Preset 'Clear Skies', only once spawned chose 'Live Weather'. It takes a second or two to load (depending on internet/server connection). This works, at least for me every time. Edited December 25, 20205 yr by Silicus Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.
December 25, 20205 yr I downloaded the Meteoblue weather app and it shows precipitation by type around the world which will be represented in the sim. i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

Including rain? When I think about it, I've never seen rain with the Live Weather setting, although there has been storm clouds and such. December 25, 20205 yr It seems it only reads reported snow cover. I flew into KMSP last night in the middle of a snow storm. No snow on the ground (and the 3/4 nm vis reported was 11 nm in sim, go figure)... Loaded up tonight after, I'm sure, the meteoblue snow coverage data was updated, and had snow on the ground.

Just got poured on at KRDD in Live Weather...I marvel at how well it is depicted, and how easily it was processed, though my RTX 2070 Super needed me to dial back volumetric clouds to High and Reflections to High to get thru it. Every time I plug in an airport with snow on the ground and switch to Live weather, I get the white stuff from the sky. Thanks
December 30, 20205 yr There is a big storm heading over the Sierras it will be interesting to see if it changes snow on the ground over what it is now. Really weird actually tried live weather for it the other day. Got few clouds and clear skies. Exited, restarted and got more clouds but no precip. 3rd time was a charm got heavy rain but no snow. Live weather is really hit or miss at best. There is no correlation to actual NOAA weather products (METARS, TAFS, etc.) or airport webcams for that matter. SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

Because it's based on Meteoblue's forecasting models, it's not really 'live', but a prediction. Edited December 30, 20205 yr by Tuskin38

There is no correlation to actual NOAA weather products (METARS, TAFS, etc.) or airport webcams for that matter. Considering just how dynamic actual weather is, with a rain squall here and nothing there, changing every few minutes and then socked in, to me it's kind of hard to say what's 'good enough'. All of the last several flights I've done were very close to what was happening en route, more or less. I live in the Front Range area near Denver CO and they say if you don't like the weather in Colorado just wait 15 minutes. The dynamic nature of weather makes it difficult to compare real versus what's reported in NOAA weather products and then what's displayed in MSFS in terms of how well they approximate each other. I'm more concerned about the quality of clouds, more variability in their types, effects during flight, versus concern the weather doesn't match en route actual weather as good as it perhaps could. Do all of the various weather data sources concur always? Again, it's just so variable in space and time very hard to nail down.
