I might sound weird, but outside the bridge, I prefer before

I actually agree with you. The screenshot with the bridge looks like a lower LOD and more generic in appearance.

Titanic Belfast on the other hand, no comparison!😄 Samson and Goliath (the Harland and Wolff cranes so iconic for Belfast) in the background too.👍

So where is the explanation for the delay ?

There isn't one, and I don't think we need one. Obviously something went wrong, maybe a last minute bug, but it doesn't matter.

After the poor communication yesterday it's no surprise that the weekly "blog" - and I use that term very loosely - is devoid of actual information on the reason for the delay, it's just a cut n paste of the discord message...

Communication is key, they seem to excel at it in some areas but are clearly failing in others.

Not planned for opening the premium aircraft configs....bummer.

So our premium acft are indeed for screenshots hehe.  I just hope they fix the Longitude someday (mainly the systems and avioincs).

What did you expect? They decided to use DRM, and a change in their piracy protection policies would be extremely surprising to me. That's a decision taken by the publisher, and they won't change it simply by user request.

The thing is, the content they sell in the more expensive bundles could easily get copied once they remove the encryption, and nobody would pay for the Premium version anymore - at least according to the reasoning of DRM supporters. I think they've made up their mind regarding DRM, and probably not even Jörg Neumann has the power to take the decision to remove the encryption.

Don't get me wrong: I'm absolutely in favour of opening up the aircraft folders, and it would strongly benefit the improvement of those planes by the community. They've proven to be highly resourceful, even to a level that Asobo wants to include and honour the efforts of FlyByWire and the likes. I'm pretty sure we're going to see most of the issues fixed at some point, but certainly to a lesser degree and a lot slower than a community driven project. I just don't see how this could happen in the context of MS as a publisher.

In my opinion, it's absolutely possible to sell AAA titles without using DRM and reach good sales figures, as CD Projekt Red (The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077) demonstrated... but that's a different topic.

They announced it 4 hours ago.

Which was most definately way past the end of the work day in France.

I assume there were much bigger issues with the Azure cloud that MS was monitoring which may have played into the timing. Imagine trying to deploy a sizeable update with inconsistent streams. Absolute gong show.

Their entire source code was bought and sold on the black market yesterday...probably not a great example.

That had nothing to do with the lack of DRM on the game though. So the example is still good.

LOL wow....Asobo, in France works on the development of MSFS 2020. I'm SURE they knew before EOD their time that release was going to be delayed.

But if the communicaions team is in bed sleeping on the west coast how does that help the update? Maybe the issue is Asobo can't issue comms?

The screenshot of Islands with a white lighthouse?

Also not sure it was a good idea to select a watermask place for the first screenshot, since it's still missing in a lot of places

If you had been listening to the Q&A you'll know it's a manual process to create the water mask and you'll also know that all the preview locations whare water masks have been shown are now included in the UK World update so the screenshots were probably selected well in advance of the decision to delay.

At the rate they are going on updates I wonder whether they will fix the Airplanes. If fact based on previous "attempts" at fixing premium content they are batting zero. I'm not sure if they even have the capability right now. I'm looking for any improvements to Premium Airplanes at 6 months. Don't really see any in the ones that I fly.

Hate to be negative because I do love the mod fixes. A320, CJ4 and to a lesser degree Longitude and TBM. They say they expect support for at least ten years. I think once they have exhausted the market for World update scenery where sales support it updates will come to a halt with maybe one or two patches after that. That will happen when sales drop and the cost of continued updates is more than expected sales and profit. I mean does anybody expect Africa, Siberia, Greenland or Canada ect. to be updated (no offence to those that lives there)

My opinion is there is a better than even chance that Stock Premium airplanes will never see any substantial improvements.

The interpretation of this in no certain terms is not great, they want all 3rd parties to use the narrow cookie cutter approach, again I just don't see any AAA titles with a "reputation" accepting this. So more Bredok, Virtualcol and Carenado.

They are in the midst of addressing this BTW. They are specifically revisiting all of the formerly watermasked locations - especially those that were show in trailers - and reimplementing them. Something they mentioned in the last twitch interview. I can't recall if this will be part of this world update or the next (France), but it's inbound.

All I'm saying is that I think the communication could have been handled better.
