February 19, 20215 yr I took a screenshot to show how blurry the terrain is. This is me running the sim at 4K with Ultra preset. I don't use rolling or manual cache, and made sure that all my data settings are on. Not sure why the ground looks so blurry. This is during my flight from RJAA to RJBB in Japan. February 19, 20215 yr I don't think it's related to LOD, the blurred terrain is right below the aircraft. I had something similar a few months ago, it went away after a few days. Internet was working properly as always. I guess it's either a local server issue with texture streaming, or one of the many bugs. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
February 19, 20215 yr That's normal. Well at least normal to me. February 19, 20215 yr Been like that since release. It was one of the first things I noticed coming from ortho on xplane. Ive said this before, but, try and fly directly overhead an airport at around 3-4000 feet. The runway looks like mine craft!
February 19, 20215 yr Author Yeah the airport looks terrible in quality from above. February 19, 20215 yr It's the same for everyone.I think it's for a performance concern. In any case it is certainly to save something.
February 19, 20215 yr On first impression that looks a bit more blurry than what I've seen. Then I realized I've never been higher than 26000 feet in the simulator. I guess you could try turning on rolling cache and see if it helps. No point in increasing the size file though. I'm at 12 GB and it works great. February 19, 20215 yr This is nothing new, it is a known problem since the release of MSFS, why post a problem that was already reported last year.Asobo knows the problem. So people can be reminded and hopefully that if it's big enough of an issue, Asobo might prioritize it. February 19, 20215 yr Moderator Does it get better if you are lower? Could be atmospheric distortion. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
February 19, 20215 yr It has been like that since release - it looks like as the aircraft goes higher the game loads lower-resolution tiles to save bandwidth, as more tiles need to be downloaded as altitude increases. When camera is zoomed out it looks fine but when it's zoomed in lower-resolution tiles become obvious. Also it's not atmospheric distortion as the terrain looks pixelated rather than blurry in MSFS. This is a resolution issue, not atmospheric distortion. PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM. Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.
February 19, 20215 yr I noticed some time the same, 4K here but not in ultra, medium here. Have you tried to config your graphics drivers to texture= high quality? It seems like lot of compression applied to the texture, may be you run out of VRAM?
