I Try to imagine how they feel. You buy a sim in august, think you can add somthing, start working on it in your free time and all of a sudden you have a job and  work on something that you love.

Mate, you have no idea how right you are.  If you'd told me in August this would be happening I wouldn't have believed you.  😂  We're so excited, and it's very rewarding to see matching excitement from the community at this news.   We'll do our best to live up to everyone's expectations.  I know they're high!  😄

Jorg mentioned Mont Blanc as an example where the new 1 meter mesh might shine. We'll see, that might mean they include part of the Italian Alps too

I really hope that we finally see mountains that look convincing. DEM alone won’t do the trick I’m afraid. The US update introduced high quality DEM for the Rockies that was supposed to look „crazy good“ but I think the result is rather underwhelming. It certainly doesn‘t look bad but it‘s still not there yet. I don‘t know what it is, a LOD issue or some sort of smoothing effect? And then there’s the morphing and tears. In XPlane this didn‘t seem to be a problem. With 3pd mesh and ortho4xp you got nice mountains. I hope they can pull it off this time.

So I didn't completely understand the legal stuff about the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe planes not being touched? Since you are contracted with them now, do you understand it. I mean the 747 is Boeing in the Standard and the 787 is Boeing in the Premium Deluxe. Does that mean the 747 can be changed but the 787 can not. I am very confused? Surely any of then can be changed, updated, by Asobo/MS and may be a contract team like WT?

Just wondering if you understand any of these, cause I do not? I don't care either way, just want the best sim for all of us. Or one of them.

The Rockies? I don't remember that. On the other hand all the mountains in Washington state are very high resolution now, not underwhelming at all. Morphing is an issue there, though, but you can even see the crevasses on Mt. Rainier an all the edges are edgy and not round. I can't wait to see that in the Alps.

To me it sounds like they are paying royalty for each plane, and that the sum is negotiate per purchase tier (ie standard, premium, deluxe). If they open up the premium or deluxe they they (Microsoft) would have to pay more money. By the sound of it it would also be a moral problem ie not adhearing to the agreement, and the licensed plane manufacturer would be "angry".

In general this was a very informative Q&A. And as a side note as a European I have to say that I did not miss an "eastern european" attitude of the community manager. There is no virtue in grumpiness. 🙂

World Update 4:

France will have 5 to 1 meter DEM in some areas. New aerial imagery for all 4 countries.

There will be three airports, all from Gaya:

LFHM
LFMN
EHRD

Paris and Amsterdam photogrammetry

There might be an airplane announced when the update goes live? Jorg was being very vague.

Amsterdam will have windmills as part of the new autogen.

only 2 photogrammetry? 😮

Like I said, I still don't get it really. But Asobo/MS or teams they contract with, say WT, or someone else can improve the planes right? I mean the better they get, the more people that will fly them and recommend the Deluxe or Premium Deluxe, which means more money for Asobo/MS, and means more money for the aircraft companies, right? Alright, I am done now, and still don't really understand, and shouldn't all the legal stuff as I am just a consumer, but thanks for trying 🙂

I'll just leave it alone for now and see happens in the future. Like I said, thanks for the info!

Seems pretty clear the entire sim is a little overwhelming for the in house dev team who have so many departments.   Having partnerships like WT should alleviate some of the workload. Personally, there is nothing premium about the 787. Its garbage.   The fact that its locked and not getting much work from Asobo themselves makes it worse.

Now that said, they still are an amazing team with updates. So much negativity unconstructive criticism exists everywhere, but we've had more sim updates in 6 months than FSX got in 2 years.  Sure things break. Think its inevitable for a project of this magnitude, but 2 steps forward 1.2 steps back is still forward progress.  Sure for some items, the priorities are less than satisfactory, but perhaps subjective based on the complexity. Things like icing, wx, should be resolved before worrying about bringing vintage infamous liveries. Little disappointed about no working with teams like AIG to bring life to the airport with AI although they did mention it brings a big performance issue, surely it can be done since P3D and XP have it.

For anyone who thinks they will have a nearly full featured sim with few bugs 6 months from release may need a little calibration in thinking.  Too help with calibration, just look at P3D and how long it took to get to 4.0.  Even XP from 10.0 to 11. And the MS Asobo team is way larger with many more branches and partnerships.  Thats just my perspective.  All in all , interesting Q&A

Although I explained what I THINK they meant, I still dont really get it either. Unless they specifically contracted a quality level less than high fidelity, then I dont see why making the airplanes available for modding no matter what tier of purchase they are is a detriment to anyone. But then again, this is corporate law so not exactly my specialty 😄

Stop being a baby and go fly. You can't see that far anyway. Sometimes I wonder why you guys are here and not playing with the other perfect sims

Actually you can see that far. Hence the reason there is a whole post in the forums about it, and people are off purchasing a mod from the sim market to fix it.

I’ll try not to ‘be a baby’. Although I’m not sure what relevance that has.

Look at all of these babies:-

"devgrp" probably run the sim with medium or lower setting at terrain rendering and therefore sees no difference post patch.
