Searching the positives from Sim Update 3

Complaints are warranted as the last update took a serious step back with performance.

Your suggestion of no vsync and frames @60 is not a one size fits all. This introduces screen tearing when panning with TIR.

Yes MSFS is a great sim, and complaints / constructive feedback can make it better.

If it is buttery smooth for you, congrats. However, some of us are trying to get back to that happy place. I had great performance since launch and prior to SU3.

I'm sorry to hear about performance problem. I have screen tearing but is barely noticeable. Maybe for me is working because I have a AMD RX580 video card and a monitor with free sync and that probably help, but I don't have TIR so I understand your point.  Is weird that people which have more capable systems have dreadful performance and stutters. I hope that you'll find the solution or. I didn't say that sim don't have problems, and I am completely agree about constructive feedback. Cheers

That's a possibility.

But not the only one. Most of the things being complained about appear to neither affect nor be show-stoppingly important to the majority of more casual users, who have jumped on the MSFS bandwagon with notable enthusiasm.

The sim is in the news, and it's in the magazines, and game sites that never paid any mind previously to civilian aviation simulation now cover the title on a regular basis.

Simultaneously, for the first time, possibly ever, users who previously spent their attention and energy modding things like Cities, Skylines have become interested enough to turn their skill towards MSFS, pushing the numbers of mods skywards in record time, while Asobo continuously pushes out free world updates to draw users back, just when their attention might indeed be otherwise waning a bit.....

Essentially, we've never seen anything like this, and for myself, I find the all-to-familiar talking points about casuals short attention spans and inability to understand complexity just as condescending; "teeny boppers?" as I did when I first arrived in the community.

Guys, FSX had one, (count it) one update to its name, in more than a decade.

Now, with immense and unprecedented resources blasting like a firehose in our direction, are we as a community seriously going to react by complaining vociferously and continuously about rapid updates?

Would we, perhaps, like Asobo to drop back to updating the sim, maybe.... once every two years?

Have we really gotten that accustomed to trading stability for stagnation?

Yep..

I'd happily have one release for the next ten years if it was any good..  I don't need new points of interest being added every few months that pop up when you are 500 meters away to stay interested in flight sim..

Why are we trying to pander towards people who aren't interested in flight simulation anyway at the expense of the hardcore who have devoted many hours and thousands of dollars to the hobby?

Yeah the LOD issue isn't a show stopper, but I spent a lot of money on making flight simulator look fantastic, which it did, and now it doesnt.  Sure if this gets fixed, along with the fact that many areas have suddenly started looking like a slideshow, then I won't be on here complaining, I'll be flying.

I'm not sure why there is such an adverse reaction to people complaining anyway...  Microsoft and Asobo aren't a mom and pop shop who are being hounded to death here, they are both highly tuned and flush outfits who don't appear to do any quality control at all.

Because Microsoft may have fantasies of actually receiving a return on its massive Investment.

Because to me at least, the constant complaining is reaching the point of blocking out finding anything worthwhile to read on the subject of MSFS within this forum.

I sign in, look at the thread titles and go nope, nope, nope.... And then just from boredom and possible masochistic tendencies, I occasionally get involved in a thread, which is not any fun at all, and sadly (for me) contributes to me coming here less and less.

I'm spending more and more time in forums where the drumbeat of negativity is not so overdone as to approach absurdity.

I'm assuming that within a reasonable time of a year or two, issues will be addressed, less peoples hair will be fashionably on fire, and the forum will return to some semblance of balance.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Complaints = Hate?

Depends on how you phrase your complaints. Some people have been calling World Update developers useless and making fun of the developers, which simply can't be downplayed to "complaints" - there's nothing justifiable about developer bashing.

Like in real life the fact that you paid money for something doesn't mean you can treat people like poop.

I think you need to try to flight more, and complain less.

"Fly more, complain less."

Leave it to a new guy to come up with what should be the motto of flight simming!

Did you take all the steps to trouble shoot? Most folks who complain about CTDs fail to take even the most obvious next steps, for example, looking at their Event Viewer Log, etc. Carefully examining their addons to look for conflicts, and so on.

I hate them truely hate them. If I see Mr K at a show I will tell him to his face what I think.

One can only surmise that if you and others are getting that attitude simply for inquiring as to progress then the AS CRJ must be a pile of steaming dung from the devil's own satanic herd and they're all a bit stressed.

Apparently it does on the internet. I see resemblances of Facebook in the forums these days. And I removed myself from that platform as it’s toxic.

Sorry i disagree totally on this statement. If you care to check out the various threads on the MSFS forum you will quickly discover folk have been trying just about everything to resolve their issues. Desperatiom comes in when you have exhausted the feeble asssitance you get from Zendesk ( with staements like " We are aware of the issue") then silence.....on something the customer has likely sunk  one hell of alot of $$$$,

Before it was CTD issues, (followed by the usual folk claiming it must be your own set up , mine's fine bla, bla) Which then miraculously vanish with an update, that then causes another issue that was not there until said update was launched!

What steps did you take on your end to trouble shoot the issue?

I deleted Facebook 5 years ago. Among other things it is full of my relatives complaining about things they could easily fix.

Most of the problems people are having issues with (like for example stutters with trackIR in this thread) I do not have myself but I refrain from posting as "I do not have that issue" is not overly helpful.

Positives... er... let me think... I still can't MSFS to run for longer than some 10 minutes or so on my PC so... nah, not many positives from me. But that probably has more to do with my PC than MSFS. My main problem is though that (apparently) the only solution to get MSFS running is to get a new PC... however, everything else runs perfectly fine on my PC, no problems at ALL, and I am afraid to buy a brand new PC only to find out MSFS still won't run or that it will run badly... so... for now I think I am done with MSFS. 😟

Maybe because their setup is indeed just fine? The fact that it can't be reproduced for everyone means there might be an issue on your side, I don't see anything wrong about pointing this.
