You really need to read up.🙄🙂

Read up what exactly? this aircraft was not intended for MP by PMDG or Asobo. Now everyone is crashing using it for a joyride and not taking it seriously. Now PMDG or Asobo needs to fix the Xbox gamers. Vatsim is just fine.

Read your last reply and then read up about 2 replays to mind.....

Yes, maybe I would.

But I have to admit it's not just the PMDG planes that I find a little overwhelming, but also PMDG as a company and their business practices. And I'm not talking about the pricing at all. They can charge whatever they want, if people find it's a quality product and buy it, more power to them.

It's more things like going over to look at their customer forums and finding that some people mentioned this multiplayer CTD problem there and immediately got a warning because they weren't using their real-life names to "sign" their forum posts.

This may be common practice over there apparently (they mention they've had this requirement since 1997), but the 90s are over, and in today's times of internet identity scams and hacks, this just seems completely insane to me. I mean, it's all a totally open forum there, you can find all these posts just by googling the names.

I appreciate the work that goes into these PMDG planes and the fascination people have with the systems depth, but having to use my real name in a totally open internet forum, just to get customer support if I have a problem with the product I bought, is just unacceptable to me. I'm not even sure it's legal in my country, to be honest.

Well I've never really found the PMDG forums that welcoming myself either to be honest, I used to post on them sometimes when they were hosted on Avsim although not that often, but I don't think I ever even been to their forum since they went elsewhere.

Some of that was down to one or two of their moderators, who had all the welcoming social skills of a lion which had just been kicked it in the knackers, but I think some of those mods have now gone, and I daresay won't be sadly missed by anyone, although since I don't frequent the place, I can't say for sure. Some of it was down to some of the evangelistic behaviour of people who worship at 'the church of PMDG' as I call it, who won't have a word said against PMDG no matter what, but it's generally those types that instantly jump on anyone who doesn't sign their name on a post, however, you can't really blame PMDG for a lot of that even though that name thing is a bit of a daft policy, because that aside, they can't help it if some of their customers act like total dicks on their forum toward people who are just looking for help and who forgot, or were not inclined, to start handing out their credentials to everyone with an internet connection.

I could say the same about the Aerosoft forums as well, which I also avoid for broadly similar reasons. But all of this doesn't stop me from buying their products, after all, Sean Connery wasn't exactly a perfect role model of women's rights, but it doesn't mean I don't like his movies. So I would say don't cut your nose off to spite your face in this regard, because this product is really excellent, as are many of PMDG's offerings.

and you obviously have blissfull ignorance when it comes to software development.

never ever will everything have been tested.

I work in software development, and let me tell you, if you code something for an online environment, you will test if it works in the online environment. Unless of course you have no clue about what you're doing.

I have not and will not spent a "few hours" studying it but managed a flight from EGGD to EGPH using the ai co-pilot. I guess that therefore I am riffraff. But even if it had been more expensive I'd have still have bought it and you wouldn't have got rid of  me.

i dont think you would asr what i call riffraff, or do you fly upsidedownh under all the new york bridges lol.

i meant the typical gamer with usuallu a short span of attention, great to see you have fun with it.

Thanks, its not he throttle control. Its control SURFACES on the outside of the plane that are not visibly moving but they do function.

It was the gust lock after thanks!

Well cleaned out community folder (other than the DC-6 and Navigraph data) and multiplayer turned off and one flight completed with no CTD.  Used the Pan-Am livery so doesn't appear liveries are an issue.  I'll keep the multiplayer off for now and slowly reintroduce mods (didn't have that many anyway).

I will say that as far as flying this bird, it's not too bad.  I had no idea what that big red lever thing was that was blocking two of the throttles tough (GUST LOCK).  Wow, disengaging that makes a huge difference.  LOL!!!

Correction: CTD as I was taxiing.

Well you have been around a long time Alan, he was really nice and a great "frount deck" guy, but then.....over the year he became, well....PMDG "let him go". there forums are OK but nothing more and nothing like AS still are.

It does connect to the throttle leavers as well as the control surfaces, when engaged it stops two of the engines going to full power, it can be adjusted to different engine power configuration.

Ok   can  some  one  tell me  what  addon or  product had  no  bugs  or  issues  on  first  release

It's a common fallacy in discussions to use this as a suitable defence for mistakes; the fact that someone else cocks something up is not an excuse for everyone else to do it.

If you go off that argument, we could say it's alright for any new airliner to have a couple of fatal accidents before they sort it out because that's what occurred with the A320 and the 737.

Why would it not be legal. It is there Forum and they can operate the way they want, and it cuts down on Trolls too.

Great analogy except...by today's standards Sean Connery was nearly a gentlemen.  Well, almost sort of, in a Scottish sort of way.  🙂

But really, he gets a bad rap.  I don't recall molestation, rape, etc being part of his repertoire which puts him ahead of most actors and too many everyday people.  As well his statement on having to "straighten" a woman out could be applied to anyone of any gender, for instance, especially in our times (but he didn't).

LOL I'm going to hell for it but that was a classic statement, you have to admit.  I open every door for my wife, give her the last of whatever we are having if she wants it, try in my Neanderthal-esque way to put her first all of the time (yeah I fail at this one sometimes...) and I certainly don't "straighten" her out (I like my pretty face and her company so...) but we both laughed at that one.  She'll be sitting next to me on the way downnnnn....😈
