Code can be optimized in many ways, without impacting the quality of what you see or experience. There's a million ways to skin a cat and once you have some actual data and can analyze what is happening you can then devise a more optimal strategy in code. Every app we build at our company (myprogrammer) follows this path. First implement features. Then optimize. And there are always many ways to optimize. You just need enough information to see where the bottlenecks are. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
July 2, 20214 yr I'll be tickled if the still persisting, though absolutely improved, behavior where upon final approach there is some short period of loss of my solid 30fps via vsync to 30Hz. Or today, flying into KSGU, dense forest in the hills north and east a bit caused major fps drop. Overall things have improved substantially, but this issue still rears its head often but not always, and always there is no indication by looking at GPU/CPU load via RTSS. I also wonder how much extra server capacity is in the waiting for Xbox release, hopefully a ton! July 2, 20214 yr I have to think this may mean I can get with this RTX 2070 Super? I'd love not to pay scalpers right now! Reducing the glass panels refresh rate and disabling the VFR map have a massive impact on the CPU frametime. Asobo said that they moved the first one (not sure about the VFR map) on a thread different from the main one. This, alone, can justify a framerate increase of 15-20 fps in my opinion because: - changing the refresh rate from medium to low already gives you 10 fps; you can imagine how heavy this task is considering that the external view always gives you more fps than the cockpit view (it should be the other way round because more objects are rendered in the external view - even on low, the load is heavy and remains on the main thread in the current build There will be other optimizations for sure. I hope the LOD is not affected because it's already bad even at 200... I am doing the Denmark bush trip and even from 1,000-1,500 ft I can see 3D objects in a very short radius, everything is blurred and flat beyond 8-10 miles. Ideally they should be aiming at making accessible higher settings for more powerful PCs in order to use as many resources are put at disposal and eliminate stuttering and morphing by pre-loading and pre-rendering a large radius of world around the aircraft. Maybe they will get there with time... 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
July 2, 20214 yr What about the cpu and gpu usage going to 20% and getting 1 fps? Will this bug still be there? I dropped the game for a month, updated the past week and the bug was still there.
