July 30, 20214 yr Go into windows settings and turn on HDR, I'm told, and then there will be an option in MSFS to enable HDR as well. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
July 30, 20214 yr I turned OFF hdr in windows and the sim,but left bloom on in Sim, worked for me. July 30, 20214 yr Agreed. It looks just like Flight Sim World now! 🥴 Washed with bleach and lit up with the power of 50 suns.
July 30, 20214 yr Yeah I can also see the overexposure problems, especially in the clouds. They definitely need to fix this. I am playing in HDR and see it. In the original post look for the large BOLD word "GRAPHICS". Right under that word, click on "Depth of Field". It will expand, and you will see 5 screenshots, "off" through "ultra". Click on the "off" pic. Then you can click on the right side of the image to advance through the series of 5 pictures to ultra. As you advance it gets more and more blurred. Ultra is blurry AF. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-graphics-settings-and-performance-guide-3-16-2021/1324075 I also suggest turning off motion blur, because I hate the effect and since it's a post processing effect it eats GPU cycles. It can cause noticeable lag when view panning in my experience. I also suggest turning off lens flare. because it too is post processing and only serves to emulate the glare you see through a camera's lens. Check out each photo of the different effects on that page, and see which effects you prefer to disable or reduce. In FS20 options set "anisotropic filtering" to 16x. Set "Texture Supersampling" to at least 4x4. For Nvidia users, In Nvidia CP, try setting "Texture Filtering Quality" to "High Quality". Try setting "Texture Filtering Negative LOD Bias" to "Clamp". July 30, 20214 yr Waldo, I believe the DOF setting only applies when you're using the drone camera. July 31, 20214 yr There is something wrong with the Gamma in MSFS how. The whites are over driven. I used to calibrate very expensive display devices, and to explain it simply if you had some levels of gray in a pattern at say 90% through 99%, from 90% on, they would all look the same, in other words the 90% level is driven as if it were a 99% level. You could see this easily using a calibration pattern. That is what we are seeing the brighter levels of gray are overdriven so they all look like bright white. Edited July 31, 20214 yr by Bobsk8

July 31, 20214 yr I set the sim back to NON-HDR (SDR) mode and the colors do appear to be washed out, especially the clouds. The very bright part of the clouds seems to be overexposed thus losing detail in them. I feel as though they're trying to give players who don't have HDR capable displays the fake HDR look.
