August 2, 20214 yr This is truly a ridiculous debate. I have been a virtual pilot since the Windows 95 days and constantly try to make virtual flying as realistic as possible. If I choose to transfer my experience over to xbox (with the help of the new flight controls soon to be available) solely as an economical choice, does that automatically put me in the "gamer" category and by extension, no longer take flight simming seriously? As long as there is no dumbing-down in either version of MSFS, who the heck cares? It's been over a year since I started using MSFS and am loving it, despite it being frustrating at times. And I have seen dozens of examples where users will try to ram your plane just for the fun of it. But because this was way before xbox version was available, it OK because they were on PC? Whether you use console or PC, what distinguishes a gamer from an avid simmer is the manner in which you fly and the respect you show for other pilots. Mario Di Lauro

I know that that's not the case for everyone, but there will be a lot. I know many people that are avid gamers. I know none of them that have any interest in flight sims.
August 2, 20214 yr I haven’t used a console since I was 17. Only PC. With the latest hardware. Does that make me elite? PS I used to be a 400M runner, and I would strive to be elite. Didn’t have anybody saying, slow down, you don’t need to be elite. What’s wrong with being elite? I will always, as long as I can afford if, purchase the latest and greatest PC hardware and cars. It’s what makes me tick, it’s my hobbies. So, what’s so wrong in wanting these used to their full potential? I didn’t purchase a Porsche 911 to be told by Porsche, “ahh but don’t take the corner too fast, we haven’t fully finished that part of the car yet, that’s in a update, coming soon, in the meantime go slower around those corners”. What rubbish. Just release a stable build that does what it says on the tin, and if you want to keep tweaking and updating and making it better etc… release that as a beta branch, until it too is stable. ‘Step in Laminar research’.

Cars are not flight simulators. MSFS was not sold to you with a commitment to making full use of your hardware from release. August 2, 20214 yr The thing to consider here is that "Xboxers" and "Simmers" are not breeds, creeds, nor races of people. They're not even objective socially-created tribes, unless someone subjectively perceives them that way. They're all people enjoying interactive video entertainment. It's simply that somewhere along the line there's a choice - driven by factors such as preference, availability and budget, over whether to buy a console...... or a PC ...... or both. And as we're using this discussion to casually mention that we own Porsche 911s, can I just drop in that I restored a 1980 Mercedes 500SL, from a shell to a show car. #BuildItDon'tBuyIt 😉 (jk). - some lovely roads in Northumberland to enjoy a 911. 😎 I'm down the road in Durham City. August 2, 20214 yr Author I have no problem that there is an Xbox version or people like to game from their couch. If that produces sales which help fund the flight simulator and ongoing development then I'm all for it. However what I do like to know is that for PC simmers, the experience is customized for their higher end rigs, that the hardware is put to proper use and they are getting their money's worth due to all the expensive hardware they have purchased. If developers are purposely dumbing down the PC simulator to accommodate console gamers then that is infuriating. I would have no choice but to go back to other sims, even despite their own flaws. August 2, 20214 yr I really don't think it's purely console related any more than just they knew they wanted it to run as clean as possible on the Xbox S, so NOW is the time to force these last rendering and LOD optimizations into the workflow. As with most things, the story is usually somewhere in the middle (though usually doesn't mean always). That said, some of the changes are still a bit of an irkling (whatever that means). In the end, none of us know what they are or are not currently thinking. Edited August 2, 20214 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

Or better yet a Mark 1 MX5; that'll run leave one of those overpriced Volkswagens in the dust on twisty roads, and sound better whilst it is doing it. 'PC Masters Should Dominate' sounds like the dialogue of a cardboard cut out villain in a low budget action movie, and makes about as much sense as one too. 🤣 Edited August 2, 20214 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
