Vote if you don't like automatic pushback @ cold & dark

Featured Replies

fellow pilots, just saw this post and was thankful as it reminded me that it kind of bothers me that when starting cold and dark at a gate the plane is automatically pushed back as soon as I turn avionics on when AI Comms is enabled. I like AI Comm and don't want to disable that so I would like to see an option to still trigger pushback manually only after I did my preflight settings, especially programming/loading Simbrief into the FMS. If that bugs you too then feel free to vote here:

always here. happens if AI Comm is enabled. Is that disabled on your side? Would explain why auto pushback is not initiated for you

Yeah it happens to me. I guess they needed some trigger for the AI to request pushback, and they decided it was when you turn on the avionics. I just leave AI comms off until I'm airborne so they can handle the boring calls.

auto pushback? This is my first time since Aug last year that I hear about this

If you let the AI handle comms, they'll ask for pushback when the avionics are on, or APU in the big jets.

It's designed this way so that when the AI is pilot flying, it can push back off the gate.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

again, seems an issue/feature only if you use AI Comms. Like that but would prefer the pushback still manually once ready for departure

Yes, this happens.. to compensate, I have all my AI turned off, and when I have done my IFR clearance and my taxi clearance and have manually pushed back if needed.. then when I am taxiing, I switch AI(ATC) on and let it handle it from that point.

That way, there is no issue, and it's only one click when taxiing to get round the issue.

fully agree, but I often just forget that click or am happy to do as little clicks as possible, to put it that way. again, no major PITA just a little annoyance but yet something which could be addressed through a settings option in the future
