Replacing BingMap to GoogleMap in MSFS2020

Featured Replies

VFX here in his post above, and rotornut, one of the folks who made a comment on the linked page after trying the installation, both made a good and important observation:  The mod seems to [adversely] affect the autogen process for [most] trees. All the other ramifications of this problematic mod aside, this indeed makes for a very barren and less immersive ambient flying experience.

Many modder used GoogleMaps for 3D region creation in MSFS2020 and it was not so bad when copared with the existing Bing 3D data. This is just a personal mod which some would like to try or not.

It is better not to use offensive wording, in any case.

Nothing offensive in my statement. The express purpose of the sim and one of the main reasons the sim was revived was to serve as a platform to promote bing maps the technology and the data delivery technologies behind it. What this mod appears to do is contravene that.

If you feel offended by my opinion of the mod and the previous statement  well we will  just have to disagree on the issue.

No,I did not feel offended by your opinion. Respecting all opinions.

Just want to say; in such case; ASobo / MS is not caring too much  for their own product.

Intel i7-9700K - AMD 7900 XT (VRAM 20GB) - 32 Gb Ram - SSD Drive - Win10 x64 - Samsung 43" 4K TV - Quest 3 VR

It was only a matter of time before someone figured out how to do this.. I love ingenuity like this

ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD /  2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors

Such a hack had been posted at MS forum and was removed within hours by the moderators after internal review.

Not sure if legal actions were taken but you can be sure that it breaks the EULA and MS is not happy to see such mods.

I have never heard the MS/Asobo team state that.. I thought they simply used the "MS in-house" technology to build the sim..

But that's literally happening under capitalism? You might want to look up the definitions ..

Even moreso with the cloud computing and streaming kick we're on going forward. Not to be doom and gloom on a Friday but we're basically renting software more than ever now.

You know absolutely nothing about copyright or software law. Take that attitude in court and let us know how that works out for you.

exactly.

That is a realistic assessment and in which I agree.
When I rent a house, I read the conditions, and I rent it. Then, at the end of the contract, I return it in perfect condition.
MSFS is bought. I can do whatever I want with the program.
The problem is that we are all obliged to do an UPDATE, and that makes, whatever you do, everything returns to zero according to the desire of it. (please see last UPDATE)
For this reason, although it is beautiful software and a good simulator, I compare its policy of conditions with communism, that is to say: whatever you do, whatever you pay, it never belongs to you.

Thank you very much, it is an attitude that I have already adopted in my life and in my company, and it is going great.
you should give it a try. 🙂
