Is it worth buying Drzewiecki Design for 2020?

Featured Replies

I own a few of there products for MSFS2020. In 2020 it seems most of their scenery was broken by SU5 update and still hasn't been fixed with SU6 about to release. I read their forums and I feel like every update keeps breaking their stuff to the point I'm not sure if I want to invest in anymore DD products. Is this going to be the new trend with addon's? As it stands now 4 of my DD sceneries, Washington NationalTokyo Narita, Chicago Landmarks, and Washington Landmarks are awaiting updates. LatinVFR, FSDT, Orbx  and Flightbeam don't seem to have these issues and are fixed quickly or ready on release day. I'm already bummed about fixes needed for DD P3Dv5 which will most likely not be addressed due to 2020 has priority.

I completely agree.  DD has always been one of those developers that sometimes you have to wonder about.  Hopefully they are just waiting for WU6 to see how things go before releasing updates.

What's wrong and needs fixing/updating with Narita and Chicago? They are working fine for me in SU5.

I have DD Seattle and Chicago and they are both fine.

I own Washington DC landmarks by DD, and it looks gorgeous. No problems at all.

It's not really in answer to the problem of the OP, but a more general comment about buying landmark / scenery addons: in my experience they look as good as the scenery around them. DD's Washington landmarks look great because there's reasonably good satellite imagery around them, but their Moscow add-on isn't good enough to make up for the messy textures for Moscow so I woudln't recommend that one.

I have no problems with DD Airports they just work fine, also the Airports are mostly huge and anyway the frame and the smootness is just OK - IMO.

I guess some of you didn’t go to the links i provided. DD forums have several post about issues since SU5 Just because it seems to be working fine for some doesn’t diminish the bugs reported on there forums from SU5. Just because a scenery looks ok doesn’t mean it’s working correctly. DD has clearly stated they are working on fixes due to the reported issues. I just hope the bugs get resolved and not another example of we just have to live with it or it’s Asobos fault. When P3Dv5 came out the scenery works but needs fixes that may not be addressed. I would hate to see the same trend for 2020.

FYI, Update from DD on their products.

[18.09.2021 update]
Dear MSFS Customers,
Simulator Update 5 introduced a few bugs which were not fixable for a very long time, in particular:

60% freeze - Asobo confirmed that this issue has been fixed and that the fix will be published together with the Simulator Update 7 (probably late October).

Non-working / disappearing jetways at some airports - Asobo confirmed that this issue has been fixed and that the fix will be published together with the Simulator Update 7 (probably late October).

LOD inconsistency (KDCA, RJAA) - this has already been fixed by us and the fixes will be published as soon as we test them together with the Simulator Update 7 (probably late October).

We are sorry for any inconvenience these issues might have caused. Unfortunately, we had no influence on some of those bugs - they could have been fixed by Asobo only. We fully understand if you are frustrated since the products you paid for are not 100% operational (or even not usable at all). Currently, we can only hope that the Simulator Update 7 will fix all those issues as Asobo stated. Thank you for your understanding.

Hopefully they will update their update, as SU7 is not due until mid November at the earliest.  It is SU6 that is due in late October.

Still, the original posters point stands, that people who bought these sceneries have been waiting for what seems a very long time for them to work correctly, when other companies seem to have sorted things out fairly quickly, barring the slowness of the store to apply the updates.

I’m sure I saw a sale on DD airports for msfs going on, was thinking of maybe getting a few but not sure since if I’m understating correctly the won’t be fixed till late October perhaps even November? If they don’t work with the current version of msfs, shouldn’t they be taken down from the marketplace?

It's not that they completely don't work, its that there are graphical oddities, most especially with LOD and objects deciding to not appear until you are right on top of them, etc.
