The hotfix update 1.19.9.0 was a nightmare

Most users (not necessarily you) have heard of the evils of account usage and have purposely gone out of their way to avoid it, and when they have to, they create a second and third account to get something installed.

Not in my case.  More like the last time I needed a Microsoft account was two computers ago, misplaced any record of the account,  and then I am unsuccessful guessing at what the email and PW were at that time for that previous account.  What also happens is that to reset an aged PW most sites, including MS want to email the reset link to the email address on record for that aged account.  But if you have moved or otherwise switched ISPs, then that old email account may no longer be available to you.  Becomes a vicious circle.  That is how you end up with multiple accounts.

Didn't MSFS ask you in which folder to install the update?

Having botched an update via MS Store by not verifying the install location in the past, and dealing with the teeth gnashing experience that followed to undo the mess, I ALWAYS triple verify that the install location is correct before clicking the install button.  BTW, my MSFS install is on a dedicated drive, so that install location is not the out-of-box default.

This Xbox app we now have to deal with to update MSFS is nothing but really irritating, to say it politely without censored text.  And now we are forced to maintain updates for that app just for the privilege of updating MSFS.  I definitely regret my MS Store purchase of MSFS!

I believe it may be a multiple Microsoft accounts issue. Don't know if clearing cookies then logging in with the known-as-the-correct for MSFS account would help or not.

I suggest the you log in to your MS account and delete all your other accounts you don't use.

Steam here, no problems. But if i did run into a nightmare like what some of you guys are reporting i would be word not allowed off. MS needs to fix this.

agreed, my steam install was very smooth (as always).  With this last hot fix, I kinda did not even notice.  Started up, got to the update screen, clicked update, made a coffee, came back to my box and all was good.  No problems, started a new flight in literally just minutes.  I really feel for those that are have issues via MS.  A year ago I would have thought that would be the way to go because it is all under one company.

MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

I hadn't any problem with the updates until this one.  The download would reach about 350MiB and then drop back and start again and not make any progress.  I decided to start MSFS 2020 from the Microsoft store link instead of my task bar link which I normally use and the update worked.  Why you say.  Who knows...  I'm sure that Microsoft doesn't.  😂

Hi,

did you manually modify UserConf.opt File? This contains the package installation path. If you messed it, the installation may have prompted to a incorrect path during ingame update (checking for updates)…

No, not at all.

I'm told that the UserCof.opt file must remain untouched.

Hi,

In my opinion updating MSFS should be as clear and simple as updating Windows or any other software.

But, from what I see, besides me, there are other users who have had problems with some MSFS updates.

Having to reinstall MSFS again from scratch is time consuming.

I think Microsoft should review the update protocol.

Regards.

Mitch, see my post above about the Get Updates process.

Hi Paul...yes, I punch the GET UPDATES,  and then it searches...but for the last two WU's...the MSFS update bar doesn't appear, with the download progress.  It always had prior to the last two. Now, I have to dance, shake a rattle and chant prayers...but eventually it shows up...

Yes, you are right. I am sorry for all the trouble. I had the same issues twice after SU04 Beta AND SU04. I even had to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch.

A lot of patience and understanding is needed. But hey, that seem to be part our hobby…

ROFL.  Have you attempted to delete a Microsoft account?  That is exactly my point!  That is why I cannot consolidate everything into one.

I have deleted several Xbox accounts over the years, but never had to change any MS account, If you contact Microsoft support they will surely help you.

Two years ago I was informed "no" rather bluntly. Again a bit over year ago when I could not use any to register for the MSFS Insider.  I have tried!  I believe I have already pointed that out a couple of times.  Perhaps I mentioned that in a different topic.

33 hours with no MSFS.  Whatever I do XBox app will not recognise my internet connection.  I have followed many many posts/guides about the problem but I can't solve it.  I purchased the steam version but it still wants the ruddy Xbox app logged in but I can't even log in because it doesn't see the internet connection!
