When ever I get back into this sim the scenery always pops for me.   IOW realism is very good.  Hard to imagine this level of realism but for me it's incredible due to the Bing data.

It's the main reason why X Plane 12 is getting such mixed reactions. The devs did hardly nothing to improve the overall scenery and graphics. In fact it should be called 11.60 instead of 12. The changes are so minimal.

I never thought I would see anything anywhere close to this good in a sim in my lifetime. Just wish my Dad would have gotten to see it. I got him hooked on FSX and then he went out and took flying lessons in his late 70's. Didn't get a license but he really enjoyed it.

Minimal changes? 

2d trees updated to 3d that move depending on weather. Volumetric clouds.  Weather that combines global Grib data with metars.  New lighting.  It is a major update. 

Of course it will not include satellite imagery and I completely understand if that is a no buy for somebody. For me this is not so important.  I updated XP11 with $20 worth of global landclass, so towns, villages, forests etc are in the correct place and size.

Of course I love MSFS and it's ground breaking features, but flight simulation is my hobby so XP12 will be a day one purchase for me.

Wow 3D trees that move. MS Flight had moving trees in 2012. almost 10 years ago. 

Speaking of trees,   Bijan's "spring N / fall S season pack" is awesome.   Very subtle addition to the sim which makes a huge difference.

Regarding data, the single best country in MSFS currently is Switzerland, because it has the best data. I'd encourage everyone to fly there. (and disable live weather if you don't want that 3d snow where it shouldn't be, mountains look better without it)

Know what?  I was flying over Kansas the other day and wondering if Bijan might do a seasonal pack for farm fields.  Hayfields are mostly green year round.  Corn and soybeans should look as if plowed from fall harvest until planting in the following spring.  Wheat fields will be green from just after the wheat is drilled in late fall until the wheat dries out and turns to light gold or faded yellow color in mid to late spring, then look plowed from June/July harvest until after drilled in late fall.

It's definitely possible.   Bijan seems to be open to requests and suggestions.    I love the business model he has with his project islands.   If you buy a copy of it,  you're allowed to submit a request for one small area for improvement.   It might take a while to happen,   but people have requested places like James Bond Island near Phuket.    You get to make a request,  and you benefit whenever anyone else does the same.   Brilliant.

Et hem.. If you search through my history you will see my hate for one thing with X-Plane..

1. I can forgive the relentless modding it takes to get it to look good

2. I can take the weird release schedules

3. I can take the die hards defending its honor

26 stupid years now and you can't figure out a better way to organized addons? Seriously.. Scenery_Packs.ini is the most frustrating game of line based Tetris you will ever play..

that's why they decided to call it WiP, eternal work in progress.  looking forward to MSFS in progress as of tomorrow, SU6 beta 😊
