November 18, 20214 yr True. But the point is that AM and PM do exist - even when expressing UTC. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

November 18, 20214 yr It is 16:00 UTC (4pm) here in the uK and I've just opened up Steam and it tells me MSFS2020 is running, but it isn't so perhaps Steam is intalling the update in the background. And my Velocity One has just been delivered. it's going to be a busy evening 😁 Edited November 18, 20214 yr by Vulcan

I’m not sure that is entirely correct, at least is a purist sense. Aviation would be 16:00 UTC. Also 16:00Z. The 24 hours clock is accepted as standard. Never the 12 hr clock, at least that is my understanding…. gained from 15 years or so in airlines and a license of my own. Rest of the world might have their own rules of course. November 18, 20214 yr Using local time for global events/travel is akin to how the UK railways were back in the day, in fact it was the UK that first introduced "standard"or "railway" time because back then each town/city had it's time dictated by it's longtitude and passangers often missed trains because of the time differences. So railway time was introduced in 1852 and it became GMT (Greenwiich mean time) which some anti-Brit renamed UTC https://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/objects-and-stories/standardising-time-railways-and-electric-telegraph PS The update is 33.4GB and my download speed is is around 85Mbits/sec Edited November 18, 20214 yr by Vulcan Update size incorrect
November 18, 20214 yr The time of day is exactly the same whether expressed as 1620 Z, 1620 UTC, or 4:20 pm. I am a licensed pilot also (since 1968) and the only thing really important is knowing what time dinner is ready. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

November 18, 20214 yr The GOTY update started about 30 - 35 minutes ago for me. CST USA. 33.40GB for the full load. The splash screen for the MSFS GOTY says 16.09 GB for the Standard Edition. I guess the rest is the two upgrades. The Porter is the wait screen now. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

The way I read this, is that the download is 33 GB, half of which is replacements. And it will have added a net of 16 GB to your install files when finished. I maxed out at 275 mbps using hardwire (ethernet). 32 gb total for the Premium Deluxe version with out anything in the Community folder or anything else running in the PC.It took about an hour starting at 8 pm Friday Nov 19 (USA). My actual speed based on a test at speedtest.net was 950 mbps before I launched the MSFS upgrade. The 275 mbps max was probably throttled at Microsoft's end of the connection. The download stalled at 91% while decompressing a file for the TBM 930. After I terminated the task and rebooted, the remaining 3 GB downloaded normally. First thing I did after MSFS fired up was to delete the cache and set the graphics options to default values. Other than the decompression hiccup I thought the upgrade was uneventful. Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space. Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).
December 27, 20214 yr Maybe I'm just a total word not allowed (I wouldn't rule it out) 🙂 But is the "GOTY" version of MSFS a new version/purchase - or can/will my existing MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition being upgraded to GOTY Edition automatically, with the enhancements and new planes etc, which is advertised? Again - sorry for stupid question! Thanks for the answer. 🙂 Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471
