Please expedite your climb.. no more!

Lots of you will already be aware of this one, but with the influx of AIG/Simple Traffic users perhaps this will help..

ATC permanently calling for so and so to "Expedite your climb" made it virtually unusable with so much traffic.   Also the endless  "turn next taxiway" was another pain in the backside.

If you can live with more European phraseology then this is the mod for you!

Game changer for me.  No more of those annoying callouts.

Or use a real ATC program like PF3 and you won't have to put up with any of that craziness.

Thanks for your usual useful input Bob. 🙄

For those of use that don't want to spend 50 bloody Euros on ATC I think my posted solution is fine thanks.  We don't have to put up with that craziness any more and it cost us nothing.

If you wish to extol the virtues of PF3 make your own thread.

That went well lol.

Really interesting mod (perhaps add to the title of your topic)...

Is there a way to install this using a standard addon install into the community folder?

Not as far as Im aware.  Easy to uninstall though if you make a backup of the file (as instructed)

Thanks! Giving it a shot now...

It would be great if someone who knows how this stuff works could put together a fix for just the expedite climb part without switching everything to European phraseology.

If you are comfortable editing text files using notepad (or notepad++, sublime text, etc.), it's pretty straightforward.

  1. Navigate to the fs-base folder in the official/steam or official/onestore folder.
  2. Backup the en-US.locPak file.
  3. Open en-US.locPak in your text editor.
  4. Search for the string "VECTOR_EXPEDITE". You should find six lines with that string.
  5. Change only the four lines with "CLIMB" or "DESCENT" to remove the text that is in the quotes after the colon. Leave the quotes.
  6. Save the file.

When done, the four lines should look like this:

      "ATCCOM.AGNT_AC_VECTOR_EXPEDITE_CLIMB.0.text": "",
      "ATCCOM.AGNT_AC_VECTOR_EXPEDITE_CLIMB.0.tts": "",
      "ATCCOM.AGNT_AC_VECTOR_EXPEDITE_DESCENT.0.text": "",
      "ATCCOM.AGNT_AC_VECTOR_EXPEDITE_DESCENT.0.tts": "",

Note that you may still hear the radio "click" that normally plays after ATC says something. This is because ATC is still giving the instructions, it is just not saying anything when it does.

Have fun!
