On another question upthread about CYVR...I own the FSSimStudios version (available on Orbx) and I'm very happy with it. Excited for it…Just gotta learn to get the bird started lol Hehe....starting her can be a hobby all in itself! The only thing I wish they modelled more crazily accurate is variety for each engine.... each engine is a living thing...every single one starts a little differently (according to my friend who I collaborated with to paint the Everts "blue canoe")...he said that some need 9 props, some 12, 13, 14, etc...some like the fuel valve on a little faster, slower, etc. Sadly (and no fault of PMDG to say the least), once you get the procedure down, each engine will start with 9 props (that I've seen so far)...very rare in real life, you have to know each engine's unique characteristics to start the real thing (according to my friend, who's actually started them). Regardless...this plane is by far my most favorite thus far for MSFS...and I enjoy every flight with her! One tip.....do NOT forget to take the gust lock off before takeoff! 🤣 (raises hand in shame) Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

I'm not a pilot but, we were in Orlando for the 1998 Microwings conference ( let's see who else was there... ) with the "ATP gang": me, Simon Hradecky, Richard Cook and Steve Garry, Alberto Barbati (future author of GSX many years later) and Angela, back then my GF, currently my wife... The guys decided to rent a Piper Seneca IV in Daytona ( back then, Avgas was SO cheap in the US... ), landed at Kissimmee to pick me, Alberto and Angela, so we obviously headed for Key West. It was August, so the weather was very good, and the whole route was simply breathtaking, following Interstate 1 along the keys, with that emerald green sea. Just moments before landing at KEYW, Richard ( former 747 instructor at British Airways ) was in command and, suddenly, somebody in the cockpit said something like "Be careful, turn to the LEFT, not to the RIGHT, that's a Naval Air base there, we don't want to be shot down!" If you are flying down that way, you have to be very careful of the Navy Blimp which is tethered on a steel cable that you won't see until it rips one of your wings off. If you stay south of the keys between Marathon and the Naval station you won't hit the cable. The Blimp is at around 14,000 feet. It is on the sectional chart just north of Sugar Loaf Shores.

Not sure if even a rarer version ever made to the market, when the product was called "Flight Simulator:ATP" by SubLogic "the Flight Simulator people", but then Microsoft sued about the trademark, and after some litigation, the product was renamed "Flight Assignment:ATP" by SubLogic "the Computer Flight people". If you haven't watched the vids Robert created for the DC....(PMDG CEO and DC-3 owner, so knows a little about big radial engines)...you need to if you're not familiar with how she flies, especially compared to a 737, A320 etc. You do not want to pull her into the air until she's ready to fly or you will have a bad outcome, hehe. Trim is crucial in her, and if trimmed correctly and throttled up just right, she will fly off the runway when she's ready (and exactly by the numbers if you've done all the W&B calcs, weather, temp, pressure, etc.)...then you want to resist the urge to pull her into a climb...flaps management is also very critical, pull them in too fast and you're low and you'll be replacing bent props and lot's of aluminum under-belly. 🙂 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

Hehe...I feel like we're wine connoisseur's bragging about how much we know about a particular vineyard. 🤣 Needless to say we've both been around the flightsim community a long time, and its fun to share knowledge of the "old days" of simming...where I paid $300 for a math co-processor for my 386 because someone on an ATP bulletin board (what we called forums back then....was either compuserve or prodigy) swore it would make ATP run better. Also paid hundreds for an Indus GT 5.25 floppy disk drive as it promised to read them faster.....meaning faster loading scenery as the measly 2mb ram I had could not store any and had to be ready from the floppy. 🤔 (not sure if that even mattered and all scenery was loaded from the floppy on demand?) Anyway, I'm loving where technology has taken this hobby...and I just need to remember that old yellow 767 (no livery choices back then) with hexagonal flat engine intakes to appreciate what we have now.... Yeah....its STILL yellow...but at least it has 3d engine intakes (I remember when that 1st came out....sheez that was a real thing back then)...wait...who painted that thing? Man he must be an awesome painter! 🙄 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

First, they barely made it to the airport fence with their improvements whereas Orbx has a larger coverage area. FSDT issued a v2 update some weeks ago and I still have an open item in the forums because it never got installed. I downloaded it but the original install was not what v2 expected so I was left hold the bag - no update. Another reason is the Orbx KEYW is about half the cost of the FSDT. I also bought the Orbx version earlier today and will replace the FSDT outdated v1. I also bought CYBD this morning at Orbx - you get a bonus airport - Stewart - with the Orbx purchase. Not a big deal, but whatever improvements are included. For Vancouver, I don't have either one, but because of the above snafu on the KEYE update, I would tend to go with Orbx - no other reason. November 24, 20214 yr When I went to the LVFR site to buy KFLL - Ft. Lauderdale - I also purchased a static aircraft package. adds hand placed static aircraft at 300 airports. A nice map shows all the improved airports and a list is available. I like to fly in Florida and there must be 15 or so airports on their map in Florida. Atlanta and New Orleans are the only other two in the deep south that I remember. I haven't installed it yet. I am still buying more at these wholesale prices. Airport Static Aircraft Bundle – LVFR (latinvfr.com) $14.95 not on sale today. Thousands of hand placed airplanes based on real world data on 300 airports on the globe. Hundreds of varieties of aircraft models and airlines. Business jets, helicopters, regional jets, cargo aircraft, small to large airliners and military aircraft. Placement of Concorde in LFPG and EGLL as they are displayed in real life. No impact on performance. Those who bought the initial static package for ASOBO will get this one free Map showing airports: When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

Happened to me tonight after one purchase. I ventured into Content Manager to see if I already owned an on-sale product. Not certain if it was that I entered the Marketplace, or if it was going into Content Manager. All Assistance options were dialed back to Easy. Definite issue to resolve! The JF discount is more like nothing to $10 for the MSFS aircraft that was released a few months ago, like the T1 Hawk (no discount) Turbo Arrow (no discount). F-15 might be the best deal at $28 vs $40 regular. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
