Where is Taxi2Gate?!

Featured Replies

Their sceneries in P3D were awesome. Especially OTHH and VHHH. I hope they jump in soon. Same with FlightBeam. They've only got a handful of sceneries out for MSFS, but I'd really like to see Quito and SFO in this sim.

Hopefully Flightbeam will do Quito at some point.

VHHH by WF Scenery for MSFS is already pretty good.  I don't use P3D, but I read the FSElite review on VHHH on P3D between Taxi2Gate and WF Scenery, and WF Scenery had the better review: https://fselite.net/content/head-to-head-hong-kong-airport-vhhh-taxi2gate-and-wf-scenery-studio/.

So somehow, Taxi2Gate would need to make their VHHH better than WF Scenery for MSFS, which is a tall order, given their review for the P3D version was worse than WF Scenery.  Anyways, Taxi2Gate not coming out with VHHH faster for MSFS is their loss, they probably lost a lot of money by being slow (WF Scenery was already slow to come out with VHHH for MSFS, it took them almost 10 months, which is ages in the timeline of airport scenery for MSFS).

PS. Although I own WF Scenery VHHH for MSFS, I would buy the Taxi2Gate version only if it's significantly better.

Taxi2Gate disappear and come along every 10+ months or so at best from what I remember on Fsx/P3d… wouldn’t count on much from them. But they make amazing sceneries. Their Istanbul LTBA is still one of the best sceneries I’ve ever had.

I suppose they are basically out of business. They keep updating their P3D sceneries for v5 and sell those updates (!) for 35 dollars; I suppose they are just trying to squeeze any last money out of what they already have made.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

J’espère que Flightbeam fera Quito à un moment donné.

This is normally planned all their products coming from P3D will arrive on MSFS. Coming soon.

Any news from Taxi2Gate regarding the port of their existing products to MSFS?

I think we would be better off if we stopped being so accepting of payware ports into MSFS.
EBBR, EGPH, NZAA, among others, are setting the standard of what we should expect from scenery developers.

During their hiatus, their absence saw them fall behind the competition in P3D.
What was good in P3D in 2017, doesn't live up to the P3D competition in 2021, and certainly not today's better standards in MSFS.

I'm still waiting for somebody to push the envelope with msfs scenery.  I can't think of any airports my MSFS payware version looks significantly better than my p3d version.  In fact pavement quality I find better in p3d version.  The problem is I don't really use p3d anymore.  Hopefully we start to see the quality raised soon.

Yes, sorry I have not used the appropriate verb/noun (port).

I meant 'create' from the ground up new sceneries for MSFS using the new SDK, the new techniques, etc.

New sceneries representing some airports they have already done in the past (eg. LFPG).

I have wondered the same...  I have noticed that sometimes teams break up and you later find out a new developer was part of an old team.

Taxi2Gate's absence is strange... Just like what happened to imaginesim?  They made ATL then disappeared.  I think a lot of the scenery designers are throwing in the towel, they have just been doing it too long.

As a poster said, in the past years Taxi2Gate took the habit to dive for a time, then surfaced to release 3-4 sceneries, then dive again... For Imaginesim, that's right but I confess that I will not miss them.

Honestly the the airports I personally loved from T2G in P3D have been done in MSFS by some talented developers, some pretty new. EDDM (Sim-Wings), TLPC (FSDG), TFFR (SLH), VHHH (WF Scenery). Only one other isn't accounted for and a developer I spoke with told me its in the works, given their MSFS releases so far, I'm all in for their rendition when it releases. With the aircraft releases over the last few weeks MSFS has been the shot in the arm for the flight sim community. I don't think the old way of operating will work anymore. You either engage or you get replaced. Folks with fresh ideas have entered the space so you can no longer rest on your laurels.

Yup.  So many companies were slow to jump on the MSFS bandwagon.  Some less than astute companies even doubled down on P3D but they are paying for their decisions now.

The writing was on the wall when MSFS was released. The smart companies could see the direction the wind was blowing (ie. Fenix, the maker of the Honda Jet, etc). The not so smart companies are too late to even carve out a position in the MSFS market and are either going bankrupt, or have to find a source of income elsewhere.
