Horrible FPS

Not till now, tried another run with Frames set Unlimited instead of my 120 Locked which i use usually, till now no stutters and everything runs fine.

Already in the air for more then 1 hour.

I always use unlimited (30 FPS via P3D VSYNC and 30Hz monitor) so the bug definitely has nothing to do with that.

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with a specific setting. There were some significant changes made between the V5.2 and V5.3 clients (this the excellent performance improvements) but clearly something was broken!

Noticed the few times p3d session started stuttering happened when browsing in Edge for a while with p3d in background during cruise, interestingly found one of the Edge processes priority was Above Normal. May be the new UPGRADE_PROCESS_PRIORITY= entry is related and there for a reason but default is set to 0. The EFHK issue seems to be unrelated as it causes unusually high gpu load and fan noise even in 5.2.

Never use Edge and never run a browser and surf the web while in P3D so fairly certain that has nothing to do with this issue.  EFHK causing high GPU load and increasing the fan levels just means it's making the system work but perhaps whatever is causing the high GPU levels in 5.2 is causing a full on crash in 5.3 however EFHK in 5.2 works fine and does not cause the stuttering or crippling FPS so there is a difference between how it behaves in 5.2 to 5.3 and the difference lies in the P3D code...

The only thing I will add is we are 26 pages into an issue LM can't track down in 5.3...  No one is sitting here questioning LM or their abilities because they hit a bug 12 years after the product was released going from 5.2 to 5.3 and clearly broke something...  Perhaps this is a bit of a perspective and reality check when people jump all over Asobo for hitting issues with their 18 month old sim even if they started working on it years ago as some like to point out repeatedly...

This is just proof it could happen to any dev team at any time and some of the comments about Asobo/MS and their capabilities should be balanced with the perspective this could happen to any dev team including LM.  So yeah, all those expectations that Asobo should have everything worked out by now and shouldn't be hitting issues with their SU's seem pretty unrealistic when 12 years later LM is still trying to figure it out, still breaking things in the process and in this case still unable to track down what change in the last code train change is the code that seems to have broken a working 5.2...   The only thing this proves to me is some of the comments against Asobo have been completely unwarranted as clearly this could happen to anyone even LM.

The only difference now is people have the option to roll back to the 5.2 client if they still had it or in my case all the way back to 4.5HF3 instead of being forced to update but that's only if you kept your own backup and install files and aren't being "forced" to a broken 5.3...

To my mind ( through some testing ) High GPU usage and Bad FPS etc,  is Dynamic Lighting is causing me the greatest grief , now I don't know if its P3Dv5.3 HF1 +1 or Addons , its seems like the different DYN LTS BGL's are conflicting in some way ( iam really no expert though )

I guess we would have to see if p3D is trying to load the DYN LTS BGL's mid flight for some reason though.  Some of our issues are mid flight hours into a session thousands of miles from any add-ons.  So unless P3D is trying to load a DYN LT BGL at that moment mid flight it's doubtful those .bgl's would be the cause, especially with no add-ons at all.  That makes more sense for those seeing the issues while sitting at the gates but lot's of reports without DL, EA on, EA Off, I haven't seen a common theme yet...

that was my case exactly sitting at the gate ( UK 2000 EGKK ) with DL on the GPU was already  getting hammered  , i Accidently turned on the FSL bus Landing lights and GPU went immediately to 100% , after around an hour messing around my little man cave was like a sauna lol

Also on the ESGP default scenario of P3D 5.3 HF1 I found stutters both on the runway heads and in other areas of the apt where 2/3 sec hung ups occurred while in the few areas
apt where I did not find stutters the fps were stable at 60.

Well I agree, however Paul we could have multiple issues in the rendering part 😉 which contribute to the same behavior/event...

I just don't understand why folks are having problems with EFHK?  On my system it runs just as smoothly as BIKF (same author as EFHK).  Again I'm running 5.3 with all the updates along with 8027 for Active Sky.

The one thing I do that others may not do is I run in Windows View and I run most of my settings in the middle since it's a I7-7700K machine and 1070 card.  I try different settings and if my machine appears to working to hard I back off.  When I update nVidia, I let their program do the update.  The only add-on airplanes I run are PMDG and don't do special textures other than ASCA.  As I follow these threads folks talk about programs that I don't even know what they are and I've been doing this since Commadore 64. 🤣

I will be glad to post what my settings are if someone will tell me what is needed and how to post them.

I just finished a LIMC - EFHK flight and landed on the 4L of EFHK (MK Studios) with the 787 QW and I did not encounter stutters problems which, however, occurred on arrival at the gate and especially near gate 14.

I see the stutter just left of gate 19 looking right between 12 and 16 hours. Only place for me with stutter at 2100 UTC. GPU relativ stable 50%.

MSAA x4 with a 3440 x 1440 resolution monitor, was running MSAA x 8 but I reduced it to get more smoothness with my old GTX 1080 Ti. CPU is 9900K @ 5.1GHz HT ON. It's the first time in years that I'm running HT ON and have to admit it's very smooth and stutter free. This is my .cfg JobScheduler config.

[JobScheduler]
AffinityMask=21845
P3DCoreAffinityMask=21845
MainThreadScheduler=0
RenderThreadScheduler=1
FrameWorkerThreadScheduler=2

I set all other programs (chaseplane, AS, navigraph simlink, SODE, immersion manager, etc) to the cores that p3d has no workload at all using process lasso.

I resolved the pauses and stutters at EFHK ... setting my Autogen Scenery Draw Distance to Medium = very smooth, High = some stutters, Very High = many stutters and a few pauses, Extreme = long pauses and stutters.

I don't know why this specific area around EFHK, I don't have this problem in other areas at Extreme?

For those of you have pauses/stutters, can you do a test flight with your Autogen Scenery Draw Distance slider set to Medium and report back ... I know this is NOT a fix, but I'm just trying to identify a possible issue tied to Autogen Scenery Draw Distance (this would be a batch problem).  Please report back.

Cheers, Rob.

Lots of trees in that picture there Rob 🙂 I only use Medium draw distance and only have stutters when at Gate 19 (just a little left to gate 19 and) looking H360-120 from there (Chaseplane at ground level)
