December 12, 20214 yr I admit to being a bit confused at this point, as the packs and choices seem to have proliferated to the extent that I'm not sure of the exact differences between some of them, and whether I need another pack, or am already covered by my existing purchases. December 12, 20214 yr I just avoid the terrain mask mod all together I love the 3D Trees though! Asus Maximus X Hero Z370/ Windows 10 MSI Gaming X 1080Ti (2100 mhz OC Watercooled) 8700k (4.7ghz OC Watercooled) 32GB DDR4 3000 Ram 500GB SAMSUNG 860 EVO SERIES SSD M.2
December 12, 20214 yr At this stage, I just don't think the masks work well enough yet, and I don't like the way they affect the map. I have also seen plenty of overlay popping. I dare say Bijan will keep trying, but it probably needs a core change to the sim, especially with the map issue. As others say, I love the trees and will just use those for now. I'm hoping Asobo stays with the sim long enough to move this process to an 'organic', shader-driven one, where tree leaf colors slowly change depending on elevation, latitude, and time of year, thru and including having leaves slowly come off trees over a month period or so. How cool would that be, not resource-intensive,. and seems theoretically possible, but it would be surprising if they ever got there. For now this is a nice update. I'm not sure how the terrain overlays work or why they're there? If Asobo can program partially frozen lakes depending on size, temp, varying snow cover amounts, etc. (currently implemented from what I can tell), I do not see why they couldn't do this? Great ideas. Maybe not something they can tackle right away, but excellent ideas 🙂
December 13, 20214 yr I know I think it has the potential to work and will be not particularly resource intensive so could fit in their performance budget. The Terrain Masks are what is under discussion here and those terrain masks are independent from the Seasons. i.e. not required for seasons.
