January 16, 20224 yr You can use both HEAD for looking out right and left out of the windows, EYE for glancing at gauges and switches in cockpit and controls. Once plugged in go to option at the top select Tobii. You connect through your sim exe like P3D. https://www.flickr.com/photos/154944674@N05/51823898495/in/dateposted-public/ Edited January 16, 20224 yr by G-RFRY Raymond Fry.

January 16, 20224 yr The Tobii is capable of 6DOF. However, Devs need to write this into the game. Just like TIR had no 6DOF in the early days. Star Citizen is the best example of 6DOF working, as the SC Devs worked with Tobii to get this next gen tracker into their game. People on the fence could do what IRS is doing. Order it from Amazon - Try it - Like it - Don't Like it - Return it.
January 16, 20224 yr I've switched from TrackIR to Tobii and wouldn't look back. The ease of use dramatically increased my enjoyment, even with its current limitations (as of now 3 DOF only). No tracking issues be it a day or night, no need to put out put on the headset when I need to get up from the computer, no cables. It all made for a whole new experience for me I did not expect before using it for the first time. But the real winner is how great it works with VR which I usually use only for certain parts of flight. Switching to VR now is just a matter of putting on VR headset and starting the VR mode - it is almost seamless with no additional hassle. And when quitting the VR mode I am instantly back in the Tobii headtracking mode, so perfect. As for the potentional issue with the bottom mounting position under the screen. I have the Alpha Honeycomb yoke right before me and there is no interference. For the record, the distance of my monitor from the edge of the desk is 40 cm and the height between the tracker and the desk is 16 cm. But there would likely be an interference if I had anything else mounted on top of the Alpha yoke. CPU Ryzen 5800X3D RAM 64GB DDR4 3200MHz GPU RTX 5070 Ti (16 GB VRAM) Display 38" LG OS Windows 11

And people are choosing the Tobii because they don't have to wear a hat 😐 MarkH https://www.youtube.com/@AlmostAviation AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D / 64Gb DDR5 / Zotac RTX 5070 Ti / 2560 x 1440 display

I use a visor that you can get from Track IR, which is basically just a headband with a bill or visor on the front. Weighs nothing, is cool, and I often forget I have it on when finished flying.

Eye focus is also an advantage but it needs the ability to tweak the settings to get the most out of it. Different people will obviously feel differently and there's nothing bad about that, it's one of those thing I guess each person has to try for themselves and see what they feel more comfortable with. Whether it's a hat or a visor or an emitter on your headphone, you HAVE to wear something. Edited January 16, 20224 yr by Matchstick

January 16, 20224 yr There is a real added convenience to be able to just sit down and play. No need to wear anything, no need to have trailing cables or remembering to charge something. These aren't hardships by any stretch but it's nice to one less thing to consider. Just my opinion but I genuinely prefer Tobii over TrackIR which I had been using in some form for the past 4 years. January 18, 20224 yr I returned to TrackIR, and I returned the Tobii. My view is:- if you have a large screen 55% or more , or anything attached to the top of your yoke/throttle etc, then, it is no good. However I also did test on a 38" Widescreen, and it worked flawless on that. So my take is, if you sit close to a smaller screen, its better than TrackIR. If however, you have a larger screen that you sit farther away from, it's a no go. Also, it lacks customisability unlike TrackIR. I wear headphones, so, I am not bothered about a small clip attached to them, so something on my head doesn't bother me a great deal.
