MSFS focusing for the hard core simmer market, not X-Box!

The fact this has had so much evolution and change is exactly what people begged for for literally years. A constantly updated, modern simulator...

Really 😉 ?

The big freeze, say between 2009 and P3Dv3, was not a period of nothingness. On the contrary, by many aspects, flight simulation today is the reflection of the intense creativity of the addon cottage industry then. The PMDG, A2A, RealAir, Orbx and so on and so forth had an imperfect platform but it was stable. They learned to hack it  and to by-pass it.  They made FS as we know it more than the FSX/ESP platform. I don't remember me having a tantrum about the old platform being abandoned  rather enjoying immensely  these addons.

Now, it was good to see the new team bringing a lot of fresh air through the brilliant idea of integrating streaming and the FS engine. And I left the P3D world without regret.

But, between no update of the core for years and a major update once a month with its litany  of flaws, we may benefit of something in between !

Anyway that will be enough for me. I do not want this thread to be closed.

can we please let it simmer another 74 hours, until WU 8 - Australia is ready and well done?

Also tired of the elitist snob that thinks VFR flying is beneath commercial airliner flying.  They are better than us because they press AP 300 feet from the ground and walked away for 6 hours.....

Curses ! Foiled again, I thought I was an elitist snob because I love nothing more than to land a light  aircraft in a crosswind, on a short strip !

so I am not sure to follow either the comparison between the two devs.

I thought this was very obvious: MSFS initial lack of very basic features like working autopilot, if Wloch was a real world pilot I can't imagine this could have happened. His background was creating games and virtual worlds, just add water and a few avionics and you get a flight simulator.

It shows how little can be accomplished by someone who thinks he knows everything..

he does know a "ton" about programming and aviation. he just doesn't care for the home flight simulation entertainment market as opposed to Microsoft - where the home user customer comes first. he has a different approach, towards research and real world applications. yes I know it runs on cell phones too. 😊

why do "serious simmers" (TM) even "play" MSFS in the first place? serious simulators, those used by the "hard core" real airlines, use serious simulators with graphics/ATC/AI/real world weather/icing/rain effects/sounds/scenery that would put even FSX to shame. I don't get it. the few times I flew a "study level" full motion "serious simulator" I forgot about the lousy graphics all together. I didn't miss any of the fancy stuff we enjoy and can't live without in our pc/game boxes. we are talking home entertainment here, not the boring professional procedure and crew management trainers for the "hard core" real world pilots 😊

Why do you think ? … 💰

Btw : KLM uses Google Earth as outside scenery in their Level D flightsimulators and it looks very realistic. Don’t know where you tried a lousy looking scenery simulator ….

Lufthansa in Bremen, Boeing in Seattle. both used horrible FS2004 style graphics. so come on, admit and confess you love some home entertainment too. 8 hours "crossing the pond" is plain boring, as boring as it gets 😊

I've said it before but what defines hardcore?

be aware: male, wears a captains hat and 2-4 golden stripes when he sits in his home cockpit, has no pilot license.

Nah just got back from a flight and it was significantly more satisfying than the navel gazing in here...
