If FSLabs determines that the future costs will be greater than the revenue they get back from Concorde P3D sales, it's in FSLab's best interest to stop developing the Concorde and eat whatever sunk costs they have put into the project

The clearly haven’t determined that. You also have to factor in the hyper extreme brand loyal fslabs customers. So many will buy whatever they selll and in whatever sim.

Since the price looks similar to the one for the Fenix A320, around or a bit below 100USD, I am expecting similar quality and depth, but the upcoming features on their website seems pretty slim.

Announcing the price before showing off what your addon can do, is a bit like putting the cart before the horse.

Yes, that's why I wrote, "If FSLabs determines..."

But like I said, the formula for FSLabs to decide is the same formula I used for TDFi's decision on pricing: (Total Revenue from Concorde P3D Sales) - (Total Future Costs of Concorde P3D ).

Notice (Total Revenue from Concorde P3D Sales) includes sales from whatever loyal customers FSLabs has. It simply includes all revenue for Concorde P3D Sales, from loyal customers, from new customers, etc.

We don't know what sales data FSLabs is seeing or using at the moment, and we don't know their new estimates on how the Concorde will sell on P3D.

Agreed it did kind of rub me the wrong way...harping on pricing more than actual decent screenshots that don't look like a direct port over of old FSX/P3D platform cockpit textures.

TFDI could surely work on marketing strategies but I'll give them benefit of doubt.

I'm still not buying anything that isn't up to MS/Asobos visual standards when it comes to textures specifically.

Asus Maximus X Hero Z370/ Windows 10
MSI Gaming X 1080Ti (2100 mhz OC Watercooled)
8700k (4.7ghz OC Watercooled)
32GB DDR4 3000 Ram
500GB SAMSUNG 860 EVO SERIES SSD M.2

TFDI is probably testing the market, seeing what they can get away with.

Having been on avsim for close to 18 years, I'd say avsimmers are a low hanging fruit, ha ha.

You are absolutely right and I agree.  We don't know.  Sometimes business's make decisions that factor in other decisions than definitions from the econ 101 class.

To be fair, many developers only put very basic features on the product page that often only scratch the surface of what's simulated. Bullet points like "FMC with SID/STAR support" are the basic standard these days. Judging by their development updates and Discord conversations this MD-11 seems pretty packed with systems simulation, even if it certainly won't be near what Fenix supposedly simulate.

Someone from TFDi said on their Discord that it's a price estimate, so you might well be right.

$90 for a base addon? What is this? 2005?

This isn't scenery.  There is no evidence to prove that high end add on aircraft will be significantly cheaper in MSFS.  Especially more niche ones like this.  While MSFS may have radically changed the number of people who will buy airports.  I don't think all of a sudden there a ton more pilots looking to learn high end airline models.  Considering that people don't usually work for free, I'm ok supporting developers.  I'm going to guess you wouldn't just work for a massive paycut either?  I don't think the "make it up on volume" concept applies to higher end aircraft.  Just addons like scenery.

I don't agree with this statement. MSFS has opened the simulator market to a massive amount of users who never used P3D or Xplane in the past. Even if a big portion, just like to fly the default planes, a non negligible amount are looking for more chalenges or are just more curious, just like in every hobbies.

PMDG DC-6 sold well beyond their expectation and it's plane part of a very niche market.

This may be true though I feel an MD11 wouldn't be the entry level aircraft for those with little experience.

Haven’t flown the PMDG bird in years. From what I remember automation wise that thing was almost on par with Airbus for ease of use IMO. Landing wise… good luck! 😂

We never know, the very first plane addon i bought was the PMDG747 on FSX, not really entry level in term of complexity.

in order to use the automation one must dedicate a decent amount of time learning to use in the first place.  Programming a complex FMC is not exactly a skill somebody picks up without some study

I feel the Aerosoft CRJ is a great entry level product for people new to jetliners.
