a little more sound effect music variety might be pleasant.

I set it to zero volume and hum "Knight in Rusty Armor."

The music should honestly be changed because it just reminds some of us of the anger we've felt at this sim's bumpy initial half baked release.🤣

It was cringey to hear while we were still trying to determine if we were ripped off with MSFS or not. So many mixed emotions from back then.😂

I sing, "I'm a Lumberjack and I'm Okay" -- from a Monty Python skit.  Over and over.  I have to sing the entire song about 3 times before the sim loads.

Some simulations like Red Dead Redemption have some good music. I used to have an "Army Remington" revolver but sold it last year.... an old percussion civil war muzzle loader...

Close your eyes and wish very very hard.

Then turn the PC volume down and put anything you want on.   Then when you're in the cockpit, turn the PC volume back on.

But you have to believe.    You have to really truly believe.

MS assumes that you are going to crash and kill yourself.  The music is created for your funeral.

Surely there is a file somewhere containing the music or is it baked in to the exe?

It's a Wwise pack file in the fs-base-soundbanks package. While the sound files can be extracted, I don't think there is a way to replace them.

As said above, the other two menu music options will replace the loading screen tracks as well.

The days of simply replacing wav based music/sound files are over in MSFS everything uses the complex Wwise system now.

I've disabled the music in the MSFS menu and play my own songs through Winamp or VLC while loading the sim or flying. There's fly me to the moon, I believe I can fly, I'll fly with you, etc. Heck you can play right from the browser:

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=flying+songs

It's really that simple.

I'll try a race between "Ina Gadda Davita" and loading AIG_AIManager to the home screen. Back in a couple of days with the results.

😁In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (allegedly it came from "In the Garden of Eden"), one of the very best moments in the movie Manhunter. Bought Iron Butterfly's album based on that scene.
