February 20, 20224 yr Would like a 727 as well. If it could be done with an optional GPS like the PMDG DC-6 that would be great. Intel Core i5-12600k, Nvidia RTX 4070 Super, 128 Gigs.
February 20, 20224 yr Mods. Not entirely sure if I am breaking any rules here so please accept my apologies in advance and delete post if so. The B727 is (as usual for old displaced airliners) finding another life in Africa. Not always the nicest place to fly and sometimes just downright dangerous. This video (which I' sure someone would have posted here before) shows a B727 doing a low level orbit on short finals to Mogadishu. While the reason for the orbit is another aircraft on the runway, the low level it is conducted at and the choice to do this rather than another extended approach is to reduce exposure to shoulder launched missile threats that are a real and present danger in this neck of the woods. It's a real fly by the seat of your pants video with a Captain who has had a 'colourful' past, (just the sort you need to fly in these areas) and whose handling skills with the B727 are on clear display.. Now don't try this at home folks...mainly because we haven't got a B727 yet 😞. Enjoy our favourite aircraft in the wild! February 20, 20224 yr Yes. Please. a 727-100/200 A smokey dirty 727. American Airlines. Edited February 20, 20224 yr by Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
February 21, 20224 yr There is a great 727 in XP... That's what I use when I am itching for some 727 action. It's by FlyJSim. Same company also has a great 737-200. It'd be nice to have those in MSFS.
February 21, 20224 yr Id do anything to see a 727 return to the sim, im fortunate enough to manage a private Super 27 IRL at work. To have one in MSFS would be a complete game changer for me. February 21, 20224 yr There is a GPS in his cockpit. How can he fly? It must be a total immersion killer. /s // 5800X3D // RTX 3090 // 64GB RAM // HP REVERB G2 //
February 21, 20224 yr Commercial Member I actually contemplated making one, as its my all time favorite.
February 21, 20224 yr Author Checked out the vid, man that was a tight turn on the go around. Also, the cockpit seems really cramped, but definitely I believe their is a market for a Boeing 727. How about the following: Eastern, American, United, Delta they all had 727"s, TWA, Pan Am, just to name a few. I would even take a Captain Sim 727. It was decent in FSX 10700kf, 3080 nividia, 32gbs 3400mhz, 1,000 watts power, M.2 DVMe !tb, boot, 1tb 7200rpm, storage, windows 10 home
April 28, 20224 yr Hi Guys, Sorry to bring this thread up, especially with everyone being afflicted with Mad Dog and NG at the moment but this is some crazy B727 stuff that simply can't wait. Now we all know Sam Chui, right? Sam does some great aviation video's but this one is a little different if only because he's not sitting in luxury on a Singapore airlines first class suite, but instead getting down and dirty in a 46 year old Astral Aviation B727-200 from Nairobi to Mogadishu and return. He didn't even get any cabin service but it doesn't look like it dented his enthusiasm for the flight !! This is Africa, around 2014 I think, and for those of us who had the opportunity to fly as crew or passengers on the B727 or just love its 'real airplane' feel and its fine looks, Sam's video gives us an up close view of the airplane. You will almost feel like your flying it!! Thinks to look out for: A 16500 hour Flight engineer who calls standard checklists from memory. Why wouldn't he! Some smooth camera angles. A speedy, yet immersive feel to the engine start and taxi A TOD briefing with the Captain explaining and clearly showing you the Mogadishu approach plate. He discusses the evacuation route and reinforces the ever present possibility of attack just like the previous video I put up on here. The landing at Mogadishu ....ohhh the landing....it was a definitely a cargo landing said Sam.! The exotic aircraft and airlines at a very busy Mogadishu airport. Something to behold!! We need the B727 in MSFS. Let's get some activities together, just like bush trips only we'll call them Africa Trips 727. But first we need a B727. Come on Dev's.....we're counting on you! Maybe Sams video will help you get started 🙂 Astral Aviation B727-200 from Nairobi to Mogadishu: Edited April 28, 20224 yr by Lord Farringdon No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.
