SU8 and the Vacuum Cleaner in My Plane

Featured Replies

Just updated to SU8 and now in several aircraft (stock and aftermarket) there is this strange random noise that sounds like a vacuum cleaner inside the cockpit. Starts off loud then "spools down" and then goes away form a few minutes then repeats. Has anyone else heard this or is it time for me to regret the questionable chemical choices I made decades ago? 🙄

Could it be AI traffic?  Sometimes they are unreasonably loud in the cockpit even from a far distance…comes on quick then fades out.

I have this, too. It was there already during the beta. As @regis9 writes, I ascribed it to AI traffic (using AIG) but I'm not sure about this because sometimes I don't see any AI plane close enough to causing this.

Didn't find time for closer examination but you're not alone. Your description is spot on.

You can vote there. Seems to be a bug. It's not restricted to the C208B.

I experience the same, in any aircraft. It happens midair with no other aircraft in immediate vicinity. The sounds disappear immediately when setting AI traffic to zero.

It's not an adequate sound of another aicraft passing by being played too loud. It sounds more like an engine spool up sound you would expect to hear on the apron.

Thanks for the link. Voted.

How could that pass the Beta test?

I feel guilty for not reporting it. I was not sure if it was caused by AIG or the beta and didn't find time for thorough testing.

I reported some issues but not this one. I should have done, no excuse.

I just experienced it too for the first time. I was landing with the default 172.

I just had it in the C172 and in the JF Arrow. Seems to be universal.

To my excuse, it seems to be much more abundant in the release SU8 than in the beta.

Same here. I have to set AI volume to zero to avoid that.

I just made a topic for the next Q&A on Wednesday, hope it can collect a few votes within the remaining hours.

I assume you meant the traffic volume slider not some AI sound volume.  Right?  I simply turned traffic off.

No. Traffic volume in sound settings. Not ideal, I know.

Fired up the Cessna Longitude and heard that sound too. Odd

Go to your sound options and just turn down other aircraft. Vacuum gone.
