Is Anyone NOT getting blurries with SP-1?

Hi John... Well said. The fact that many of us are not experiencing a blurries issue (myself included) seems to indicate that those experiencing it have an issue connected with their setup (incorrect install, drivers, fsx.cfg, ect..). I can relate to those experiencing this issue but I think it's a little premature to blame SP1.Regards,Mark

I don't know if this counts as blurries, but I am certainly seeing a lot of mis-tiling going on per the picture below:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171954.jpgThis was after flying for about 1 and 1/2 hours, global high defaults except water at 2.x low. FPS was locked at 30 and was pegged there. Unlocking FPS saw FPS boost to 50+ and ocassionally shoot into the low 100s (!), but no change to tiling behaviour. The mis-tiling continued for another 20 or so mins until I started descending to land. Also of note is that the second core (per the task manager window) gets a lot more use after flying for a while, roughly averaging 33% by my reading of the graph.Gary

Try turning in-game anti-aliasing off and using your graphics card AA.

I would count myself as "having the blurries" and do believe that it is ultimately an issue of having limited processing power in our computer for what we are trying to process. I'd love to have a dual core 6600 and set the scenery sliders to the right, but I have a P4-2.4 overclocked to 2.8 with 1 GB of memory and sliders to the right choke this machine..So, here is what I found.. I hope it may help other folks with less than the fastest computer available. The default settings for my computer (as determined by FSX) are "medium-high" on all option screens, so that is where I started my testing. I do like the 1m texture resolution, however, so I changed that setting from the 2m default (otherwise I never get to see the sharp textures, ever..)I also would like to see the sharp textures further away, not just right under my aircraft, so I changed the radius setting to "large" from "medium". This is where I got into trouble... my computer just simply cannot cope with this setting... the textures could not keep up when I was flying. Even with the fps setting at a steady 20 and no weather, no traffic... no joy. So I went into the fsx.cfg file...The radius setting there is called LOD_RADIUS and the medium setting equates to 3.5 and the large setting to 4.5.After some experimentation, I found that my computer can handle a LOD_RADIUS setting of 4.0 and the textures keep up OK... So maybe for some of us, until we get a new computer, a setting between "medium" and "large" is actually best (for now).

I've only seen this though so far with FSX Default aircraft! FS9 aircraft work fine!! What aircraft are you flying there? Looks like it my be the FSX DC-3? If so , looks like the same issue!

Thanks

This is just a thought but could it be that blurries are experienced by those with the Standard Edition and not those with the Deluxe edition or vice versa?

Hi AllNo Blurries here either. No Add on Scenery just MyTraffic and some payware aircraft.SystemIntel Duo Core, Nvida GF 7950 Card, latest drivers.Kenny G.

Yes, went down from 1920 x 1200 to 1280 x 1024 -- made no difference.CPU is X6800 & 3.6Ghz FSB running at 1500Mhz 2GB RAM nVidia 8800GTX Raptor 10K rpm drives in RAID 0.Purchased DiskKeeper Pro and ran defrags including Pagefile and adjusted the MFT for help prevent fragmentation.I'll post pics later as I'm going into hour 18 on try to remove the blurries. I've used ALL (every single one) suggested listed here with NO luck on the blurries. I've been testing mostly at Las Vegas and trying to get the mountians to be sharp before I'm almost flying on top of them -- just no luck so far.I've turned off Autogen, traffic (land, sea, and air), turn down complexity. LOD changes have zero effect which is very strange. No matter what I do, I do retain a solid 30 fps, too bad the image quality is so bad. I'll post images and give this a few more hours of testing and trying to resolve this problem. Otherwise I'm back to FS9 where I have 40 fps at 1920 x 1200 with everything maxed including a ton of third party add-ons and/or X-Plane that has no problems with texture detail or swapping.Too bad, I was really looking forward to FSX SP1.Robin.

I get no blurries.I completely wiped FSX prior to applying SP1.e.g.:1. Uninstall FSX2. Delete FSX firectory3. Uninstall all addons, and delete their directories4. Reinstall FSX and re-register, no problems5. run FSX once6. apply SP17. rerun FSX once8. put some addins back inNo stutters, no blurries. FPS lock at 30. I also raised settings (notablly autogen to 1 notch down from the top)AMD FX-60, 2GB Corsair RAM, 2x WD Raptor 64's in RAID0.Regarding core usage, Phil's blog seems to be confusing some people.1 core: AffinityMask=12 cores: AffinityMask=34 cores: AffinityMask=15This may seem wierd unless you look at the binary values for those 3 numbers:1 = 00013 = 001115 = 1111

Nope, I have the deluxe edition.Robin.

This may be unrelated but it's worth a try. I had problems with anisotropic filtering on an nVidia card a several months ago. In a couple of games, textures would be smeared in the middle and far distance. After some troubleshooting, I narrowed the problem down to the 'Negative LOD bias' setting in the video card drivers. Setting it to 'clamp' caused pronounced texture smearing. Setting it to 'allow' solved the problem, though it did introduce some shimmering. Other people noticed the same thing so it wasn't peculiar to my system config.I have an ATI card now so don't know if this is still an issue with newer nVidia cards or drivers. Check the 'Negative LOD bias' setting in your video card control panel and try setting it to 'allow' and 'clamp' and see if that has any effect on the blurries you're experiencing in FSX.

Why are you so derogatory towards people? We're just trying to resolve a problem with blurries and you continue to provide just negative confrontational statements -- does this help you? or anyone?Whether it is 400 or 4 people (BTW, I've counted 12 on this forum so far and numerous posts on other web sites) there appears to be a problem to which we're trying to find a solution. Not everyone appears to be having as drastic a problem, so that indicates a hardware/software configuration issue OR some people are just a lot more tolerant of what is defined as blurries. But either way, if you wanna help then help, but two out of two posts I've read from you are definitely NOT helpful.Robin.
