The stable version is very old, try the development version, the performance is better and has much more features( new custom LNAV, holds…)

Use the experimental version, just be sure to check for an update before each flight (yes, sometimes it's updated three times a day!!)

Also turn off the co-pilot displays. I find that helps a bit.

Yep, me too.

There's a five page thread on stutters here:

My experience with the FBW experimental and dev version is the same.

i7 12700K , DDR4 64GB RAM @3600MHz, Asus Z690-Plus D4 MB, Gainward 4090 RTX Graphics, 850W Corsair PSU, Kraken AIO watercooler, Nvme 1TB ssd, 1TB ssd, 500GB ssd.

DX11 is recommended for the FBW.

Not advisable at the moment. They are doing a lot of work with VNAV that breaks things fairly often in the experimental version. Best to use the development version for now. Which also gets frequent updates (almost daily) but those updates do not break things. Also, there is no support for the experimental version. If something is not working, you can report it on their discord, but you will not receive any help resolving it. The development version does receive support.

Fully correct, here is the text posted on the FBW Discord a couple of days ago:

"We'd like to remind our users that all the features that have been previewed on Experimental over the past months are now available on the Development version. You can continue to use Experimental if you wish, but you should expect more bugs as we test some further improvements. For day-to-day flying, Development is recommended. It includes holds and all LNAV improvements from the previous Experimental.

Get the Development version through our installer: https://api.flybywiresim.com/installer"

VNAV is not yet in the experimental version as far as I am aware?

I used the Dev version last night. It started okay but about halfway through a 1.5 hour flight, it was constantly stuttering like crazy during cruise. Looking around was a mess. Usually, it is most stable during cruise. It seemed to stabilize here and there, but then the stuttering would come back. Looking at the timings, they looked to jump between 1ms-20ms constantly. 5900x 3080ti 32gb ram.

I believe you are correct. However, the FBW Custom FMS 2.0 is there. It may or may not work at the moment, hence, unless you wish to alpha test that and report issues, best to stay with Development for now (which has Custom FMS 1.5).

There is another branch (not available via the installer) which has the work in progress VNAV.

Just done a flight EGPH-LiCJ with the Dev version, with no issues at all. My computer specs are below, yet get a constant 30fps (locked) throughout.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung  NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

I'm on the experimental and I do have VNAV. It's not 100% ok, but it's fine !

Also, no stutters whatsoever. Only symptom that I noticed during SU8 Beta was a very slow refresh rate in the PFD / ND displays that I could fix on the fly by switching between MFS and desktop.

I haven't experienced it since I installed SU8 Final.

As usual I always advise every Win 10 and Win 11 user to check if there are any Windows ( specially the "H2" series ) on hold to get installed. Even iif only notified and saying that you can opt to push them, they always have caused network and overall instalbility.
