April 30, 20224 yr Hi everyone, even after SU9 I still can't get over this lag spikes. As you can see in the video my sim runs perfectly fine at 30 fps but I experience those spikes where my fps suddenly drop to 13/15, sometimes twice in a row. I tried everything (except reinstalling the game which will be next) but nothing solved it. For context, I have the FPS locked at 30 with game vsync on and the screen rate locked at 60Hz by Nvidia control panel. I have this problem regardless of the graphic settings (even with everything at minimum). Nvidia drivers are updated. Community folder is empty expect for Navigraph. Hardware: GTX 1080 i7 9700k not overclocked. CPU usage stays ad around 30% with the sim running
April 30, 20224 yr This is similar to what I'm seeing, but my spikes downward aren't as bad. Aorus Master X570 / 5800x3d w/ Arctic Freezer ii 280 / Asus TUF 3090 w/ gigabyte BIOS / 2x16GB b-die @ 3600Mhz
April 30, 20224 yr Is Gsync or Freesync enabled in your driver settings (if your Monitor supports it)? Try disabling it and try setting everything to default in your driver settings, only using Max FPS and Vsync of the game.
April 30, 20224 yr I had this on my PC with mamudesign Powerlines, Lifts, Solarplants installed. After removing it, all was back to normal. Definitely something CPU related. Have a look at your community folder and your LOD settings. Good luck Mick PC: Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite, AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 Super Aorus Master, DDR5 G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 2X32 GB, Corsair HX 1000, Fractal Torrent, Samsung LC32 / G7 1440P.
April 30, 20224 yr Do you have 3rd party mesh installed? That's a typical issue since SU7. Edited April 30, 20224 yr by Nemo - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

April 30, 20224 yr Run something like 3DMark and see if your system results consistent with the results of other users with the same hardware. Just a guess but try changing your refresh rate in NCP to 29hz and see if it persists. May 1, 20224 yr Personally, I would use Process Monitor and try to find out what's hammering your CPU. Antivirus? What's running in the background in Windows? Hope you get it sorted soon. Tried this aswell As I said nothing else is installed, I tried even without navigraph this morning and nothing changed. I’m gonna take a drastic step and reset the pc (been a years since last time) and reinstall the sim. I’ll let you know, thanks for the help anyway guys 😊
May 2, 20224 yr Hmm.. before you reset Windows and reinstall MSFS - based on my experience of performance issues with MSFS - stuttering etc, I wonder whether this may be Windows related, or hardware issues? From the performance you showed in the video there's no reason to assume your system (or CPU) should be struggling with MSFS. Here's some of the things I tried and I believe these really helped me get a better experience from MSFS. Your mileage may vary of course depending on what's actually wrong. Disable all unrelated background Windows tasks Right click on your MSFS flightsimulator.exe file and go to Compatibility tab - check disable full screen optimisations. Then click on 'Change high DPUI settings and check 'override high DPI scaling behaviour'. Clean your system: run CHKDSK/f and defrag your C and MSFS drive (if different) regularly. Optimise your system weekly or so. (I use Advanced System Optimizer) Try running scf/scannow (in a DOS window run as Admin) Also use the DISM command to clean Windows. Run Windows Memory Diagnostics There's are some registry tweaks that I found on these forums, if you are happy to tweak your registry and at your own risk: HKEY_LOCALMACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/HDU/'Start' key- Change value from 2 to 4 HKEY_LOCALMACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Session Manager/MemoryManagement/ Change 'ClearPageFileAtShutdown' key to 1 In Windows, Settings - System - Display - Graphics Settings: Try changing Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) to either on or off depending on where it is now. Set your system page file on your MSFS drive to be the same size as you RAM For full information - link: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016142680-All-versions-How-to-improve-the-performance Hope some of this helps.
