I'm locked at 30 and normally maintain that, except in specific high demand instances, such as panning my view at a higher complexity airport, where FPS drops. The worst I see is during initial climb out at say, KFSO, where in the Fenix, I may briefly drop as low as 19 FPS. 737 will drop to mid-20s in that scenario. I'm just looking to improve things in the worst cases without having to compromise my experience across the board or fiddling with settings during a flight. I am happy to help a fellow Ontarian 😀 I will try and get some screenshots posted of my current settings, I just checked our processors out on CPU benchmark and while mine is 2 generations newer it is barely different from yours and you also have a Zotac 1080TI. I run my i5-9600K @ 5Ghz across all cores but I would not have thought that would make a huge difference. As I mentioned before I spent a lot of time optimizing my settings when I changed my old 1080P TV and was amazed I could actually run full 4K with my modest system. I did dial down all the shadows though, that really pushed my trusty old 1080TI over the edge lol What I am finding is that prior to the Fenix I was definitely GPU bound, pushing nearly 90% most of the time while my i5 was sitting on average around 60% (Hence why I am retiring the 1080TI soon and then my i5-9600K as I expect that to become the bottleneck) with the Fenix set to render the displays on the CPU I am seeing both utilizations around 80% and that is actually giving me a better result as the system is more balanced. What I am really not sure about is that I have not enabled my onboard GPU so I assume raw CPU power is being used for the display rendering. I wonder once the onboard GPU is enabled there will be another GPU option in the rendering drop down box. I am also go to resize an 8K livery I downloaded to 2K as I am curious to see how that affects things. Please share your thoughts if you go through this exercise. I enabled the IGPU and am running on 'quality' (I was on CPU prior) . Two noticeable effects.. CPU picked up additional cycles when locked at 30 allowing my fans to back off; smoother even when the sim scenario drives performance down below 30. I'd recommend using the IGPU if possible. This is no surprise since the maximum utilization, even at the highest level, was 83%. May 25, 20224 yr So i bought the Fenix today and this my conclusion: I am not a Boeing man, i much prefer and love the Airbus. But after experiencing the Fenix performance i am for PMDG Boeing all the way ! Its just night and day differences for me. I really hope Fenix can bring the performance to the same level as PMDG. MSFS2020, 24, Fenix A320, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 ,G.SKILL 64GB 6000MHz CL28
May 25, 20224 yr Performance is defiantly a Fenix issue. My PMDG, Maddog and 146 performance is solid as a rock. Just sit in the cockpit of the Fenix and pan around. Watch the Frames drop like a rock.Same will happen when taxing, specially with traffic. None of the previous mentioned have that issue. Edited May 25, 20224 yr by Adrian123

Thank roi. can you post your pc specs and also let me know if you tried all the settings suggested for lower end machines. I am in the same boat as you prior to your purchase, still on the fence. So while I was finishing my last flight I resized all of the textures on one livery to 2K and also the gallery texture mentioned previously also to 2K. I reloaded the sim at the gate in Naples for my return leg and I am seeing CPU - 60% GPU - 78% This is not the most demanding airport though, I will see how the flight goes. I fired up HWInfo so will see what my average CPU usage is over a longer period. I feel for those that are experiencing issues, I must be one of the lucky ones I guess. So far I am more than happy with the Fenix Richard i7-12700K | Noctua NH-D15S Black Version | MSI Pro Z690 - A | 32 GB DDR4 3600 | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 | 1TB WD Blue NMVe (MSFS 2020) | 500 GB WD Black Gen 4 NVMe | 4TB WD Black Conventional | Fractal Design Torrent Case | Seasonic 1000W Gold Plus PSU | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Honeycomb Throttle | Airbus Side Stick | Virpil Rudder Pedals | Sony X90K 55 Inch TV |
May 25, 20224 yr Wasn't the FBW also more demanding than Maddog and PMDG though? I definitely hope that Fenix can bring out some performance optimizations, but at the same time the Airbus is a highly computerized plane compared to Boeing and MD so that is probably what is tanking the framerate... FBW is also an Airbus. Edited May 25, 20224 yr by Ikarus280

I debloated my Nvidia driver this morning with the help of this video, and while the FPS increase was not very significant, I am experiencing a way smoother and more fluid sim including with the Fenix (less blurries too as a bonus). Obviously when you are limited by mainthread it does not do much but it is still something. As per the comments it helped many other guys as well. Edited May 25, 20224 yr by Ikarus280

Once again, one of the many mixed comments on performance for folks at my level. Just a side note, you can get a refund from Fenix.
