Fenix and performance

Someone here wrote different regarding a working EFB

I think you're getting confused here.

Two distinctions:-

1). The EFB must be running, as it controls authentication and the systems logic (it's th interface with the external Prosim engine).

2). You don't have to use the EFB for anything, if you don't want to.   But there is no way of turning it off or deactivating it, because of point 1 above.

Agreed. Maybe poke the devs in the discord and see if they wouldn't add some integration - or at the very very least - connect the seat belt sign to the same toggle the FBW uses, which triggers the seatbelts in SLC.

As for Dave updating SLC to 1.6, I think he's given up. It's been an "imminent release!" since August of 2020, with "Coming out in days!" announcements every 3-5 months since.

His name is Steve. The last time I sent him an e-mail he responded he said it was still going to be updated. I'll check with him again.

I'm actually happy with this version and I'm happy to play all announcements manually.

Awesome! I'm personally not too upset. I think he had a newborn since 1.55 dropped, and being the lone developer with a newborn has pretty predictable results. (No new updates) 😂

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Here's a video demonstrating performance in the Fenix. Please disregard all the oddities and ECAM warnings as it's a replay using flight recorder.

In the cruise at FL360 between KDEN and KLAX.  Stunned at how smooth this is by using the iGPU - as smooth as my GA aircraft - amazing!  If you haven't investigated your integrated GPU, give it a go!

Love this pilot, some of the best videos.

Performance is surprisingly good for such a complex addon, as can be seen in the video I posted above. My goal for the video was to find a location with complex scenery and use the highest settings possible whilst still maintaining a stable 30fps.

It works without any update. I just need to manually input number of passengers, airport, and departure time. I like that soundpacks are customizable.

BTW, how do I make the information on the VC sharper or easier to read? It's not as clear as in the YT videos I've been watching. Thanks!

What do you mean with information on the VC? You mean the textures? They are crystal clear on my side, but I have texture resolution at ultra.
Or do you mean the displays? That‘s set by the display quality setting in the fenix app.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

My FPS is lower than average with the Fenix but smooter than other planes. Makes it less noticable. Get around 30 fps with the Fenix l, 34 with the PMDG, and 40 with the FBW.

switching to GPU display rendering cleared the low frames I had on my first couple of flights.

What GPU do you have Shawn?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Does any techy-type know the answer to this?

I have an old 1080 ti lying around. If I can find a way to plug it back in and power it up, can the Fenix use it to render? Or does it have to be the iGPU? 🤔

14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor.
Thrustmaster Airbus Edition throttles etc, TPR pedals, MiniCockpit FCU, WinWings FCU, WinWings Orion 2 F15E, WinWings A320 sticks.

In theory you should be able to select it - As the drop down menu would list any GPUs that you have installed on your system. Not sure how well it would work but you can give it a go.
