Powerlines...

Featured Replies

I have had the "powerlines and solar farms" addon in my community folder for quite some time but I can't seem to find any in the sim.  Someone posted a near collision with lines on final approach to 17L at KMCO but I couldn't find them there. My content manager shows that they're in there. Could it be a conflict with another addon like Puffy's VFR region 2?  Is anybody else not finding any powerlines?

I have this mod plus both VFR Region mods installed all the time and they're working just fine for me. Perhaps run the sim without any mods, then re-run with mods reinstalled to see if that kicks them into working.

Good idea.  I'll give that a try.

I have some user with the same issue

Please try deleting the content.xml and the

*.dat files inside the scenery indexes folder

AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SceneryIndexes\*.dat

The sim will rebuild them for you during next restart

Should fix issues with most sceneries 😊

(By the way should be done after every update!)

And heaht, you gonna find cable running all the way runway 35R/17L

(whenever placing there is no way I can detect wheather the cable were underground, a fix will come in next release)

Fly out of KEYW.   You should see powerlines everywhere.

/I love this mod,  but I'm not using it now because it causes the sim to CTD for me.   Shame because it's awesome.

But I've got other issues too,  also having some problems with the AIG Traffic Controller closing itself.   I need to go through my community folder and start from the basics to find the bad apple.

This did the trick.  There are powerlines everywhere!

Stopped the CTD's I was having with this mod by not launching SimShaker for Aviators.   I guess SSA was hitting the CPU or Simconnect too hard.    Think it stopped the AIG controller from crashing too.

Love this mod.

This is one reason I like Add-on Linker. There's a setting in it's options, to automatically delete content.xml when ever you use the program.

Holy, I was not aware of this, thanks for bringing this to my attention! Is it easy to find within settings?

Definitely seems to be a case of the order in which the sim loads addons.  I prefixed the folder with the letters AA then emptied and restored my community folder and that fixed it.  Editing the XML would have a similar effect.

WeloveVFR 1 and 2 are great along with the powerlines, though I decided not to use the solar farms.  They certainly add a lot of immersion to low and slow for me. Thanks for the great work to both authors.

I wasn't aware either! Cant find the option though...

Edit:  You have to do it in the Addon Linker config file  C:\ProgramData\MSFS Addons Linker\MSFS_Addons_Linker.ini     Set  FlightSimulator_LaunchDeleteContentsXml=True

God bless you Stu, I would NEVER have found that in a million years. I trawled through Options about forty times fearing for my sanity. Which was a baseless fear as my sanity  is long gone. 😜

Hmmm, does this command line not imply that the .xml only gets deleted if MSFS is started from AddonLinker? Does it really delete the .xml each time you fire up AddonLinker?
