Sucks Carenado and FlightFX products are Marketplace exclusives.

Especially when Carenado's bizjet catalogue starts rolling into MSFS.

Luckily the Asobo CJ4 with WT mods scratch my bizjet itch for now.

Yeah I think we'll be well taken care of when the new WT CJ refresh hits the MP (thankfully that one is free lol).  And then with the G3000 refresh we'll see the C700 ,TBM, and all these light jets have a lot more navigational power.

Missed your question before, but want to know people's opinions so I can decide which to use in general.

I use the market place whenever possible. The pro for me is that I then have my updates all in one place without having to go to a website, credential in, find the update, download the update, execute the update.  
 

I use steam and have never had a payment issue.

Microsoft seems to be pushing updates more frequently and it just depends on when the vendor pushes the updates to them.

I really have only done the vendors site for a direct purchase when it a necessity.

 

Marketplace is much more reliable and quick to update now, and a real plus to have everything in one place. Quite happy using it now.

For me it is simple:

Airports, scenery and simpler aircraft -> Marketplace whenever possible (makes re-installing the sim a breeze);

Complex airliners -> SimMarket or directly when possible (to avoid MP limitations).

My first preference is Orbx as it has marketplace style auto updates with Orbx Central without all the downsides of the marketplace (slow updates, no itemised receipt, files encrypted etc etc etc) ,

I also noticed that the Marketplace began to release updates faster.

My experience is the opposite. Buying from MP turned out to be less expensive. For example I have discovered that buying the Milviz C310 directly from Milviz costed me about $6 more than if I would have purchased it from the MP

Buy from the MP, and your files get encrypted. I prefer buying from the vendor directly. 

And when you buy in the market you help them to continue developing mfs if Microsoft makes money I am sure they will continue to support their product.

I'm trying to remove the AS Twotter to free up space.  The Content Manager delete takes it off the list but next time it'll be there again.
