Anyone seeing clouds on ground again?

Featured Replies

After this update I'm seeing clouds basically on the ground.  METAR was SCT055

Hopefully its just a fluke and maybe related to server load or something.

Had clouds on the ground yesterday when flying in Aus, as well as weird wind issues in Alaska discussed in another thread here, so i don't think it's update related.

i never not seen these, but luckily less now.

with all the different weather possibilities odd things will appear now and then.

I'm seeing better looking clouds after WU10:

I wonder if server-side changes are happening as they prepare for the SU10 beta? (given that weather/clouds related changes are coming there). Wild guessing here of course. I haven't seen any ground-level clouds in a while.

Hi,

I'm afraid the clouds are low again.

I think Asobo fixes one thing and breaks another in each update.

Cheers

They look like they're on the ground.  Which could be realistic if that's Catalina where they frequently see a marine layer.

Not a good example though because KAVX isn't far above sea level.  KDLH is about 1400 ft msl and the clouds, when I checked again, were SCT015 which would make sense if that nasty AGL vs MSL bug were back again.

Isn't this called "fog"?  Is the world totally slipping into insanity or am I the only one?

You mean, fog is clouds on the ground, like you see all the time in SFO?????   LOL

In DJ's example it would be dependent on what the actual metar was reading.  In my case SCT015 means clouds 1500 ft above ground even though in the sim they were on the ground.  The airport elevation happens to be 1400 at kdlh - so if they modeled clouds to be in msl incorrectly this would be why they displayed nearly on the ground.

This bug was present but fixed a few updates ago.

What we have now are convective clouds on the ground. This is what fog is supposed to, and used to, look like:

No? That was because MSFS was using clouds as an alternative to fog.  Now we have fog.

I agree! It was not a good example, but you posted a question at the same time that I was going to show off my pics. 😀
