New Caravan coming - Black Square steam gauge overhaul

Featured Replies

Nice but dear. Too dear imo for what you get.  I bought it but am underwhelmed. Looks the same. Sounds the same. It's just a modded default plane and it should cost a fiver.

It's nearly a 100% overhaul of avionics and systems, and to me it's a ton more immersive and engaging to fly than just the default Caravan or just a modded default plane, and it absolutely gives me plenty of value for money - even more so with a surprisingly big update like this.

Nah I recently bought the Kodiak.

I agree, it's a great add-on and totally changes the feel of flying the aircraft in an interesting way.

REALLY looking forward to the KA350 version as the default avionics for that Dl are an absolutely joke.

Is the performance different from the default plane?

Im curious about this as well. Couldn’t find any info on this on the product page.

Are those stutters caused by the plane or the simulator? If I decided to switch from P3Dv4.5 to MSFS, the last thing that I would want to see would be more stutters.

I also changed from P3D to MSFS and didn't regret it !

I have a relative mediocre processor  (i7-3770K) and a RTX 2060 but no stutters.

I also had stutters but they were caused by one of the last windows updates that resetted the "number of cores used" setting in the configuration. After activating all cores again no more problems.

I 💖 the Analog Caravan, and after installing an anthracit cockpit mod all captions are much better readable !

Just two points I don't like:

The altitude setting in the altimeter is difficult to read. I have to zoom in a lot to be able to read it (with 👓). Can this be changed with a future update please ?

I use the Honeycomb Bravo with "Axis and Ohs" and it's not possible to use any of the mixture axis settings on the condition lever. I had no problem with the Kodiak which uses a similar 3 position lever.

It would be fine if that could be changed in a further update.

Have to close now, my Caravan is parket in Cusco and I want to make a flight above the Machu Pichu ruins...

Does anyone have any idea what the "chip detector" on the annunciator panel means? I did a quick google search but it did not leave me any wiser. I did land, shut down and then restart the engines but the thing is still there... Should I be worried? I'm scheduled to go up to Friday Harbour to attend a wedding...

Wild guess but a sensor detecting a large chip missing from the prop or windshield?

Hmm. That's interesting. Perhaps it's detecting my overclocked 12900 chip? It's hard to be sure. I haven't looked in the manual, so shame on me for that. I put my faith in the excellent knowledge of the community and risked taking off for the last leg of the day 🙂

In the Kodiak it means there are metal chips detected in the oil, meaning you've stressed the engine too much. Keep doing that and it might fail.

Full power is only recommended for a limited time (in seconds, not minutes) seconds during takeoff.

It seems they have done more than a simple swap of the avionics and simulated failures as well
