New Caravan coming - Black Square steam gauge overhaul

Working doors can definitely be done on the default models.    JPL has them on his excellent steam gauge 152 mod.

Mugz has them on the TBM-930 mod.

Personally I like to be able to open a side window.   One of the reasons I use the Aviat Husky float plane.

ya I have both those mods and love that feature they implemented.. if freeware mods can do it, why can't they include it in payware mod?

Sorry but what is so important about opening up doors on a pixel screen of an aircraft on your desktop? Its not going to make it superior to one that doesn't. Give me system depth and opening doors don't cut it over a more realistic cockpit.

In a poll of 'Do you like doors to function in MSFS?'  I would vote yes. A flight doesn't feel finished for me until I can open the door.

In VR it's a very nice feature to have for extra immersion after you've landed and parked and shut down the plane, and then you can open the door and ask "Which way is the bar?"

I can confirm you can open the storm window in flight and the plane DOES NOT self-destruct.

I’ll be interested to hear impressions of this.  I’m not interested in the Caravan necessarily but I’m really hoping the King Air is great so this will be a good first impression of what this team is capable of.

First impressions are good, looks nice, everything starts as expected. There seems more torque effect on take off (though that could be placebo effect) and generally flies like I'd expect a Caravan - less feisty than the Kodiak. Haven't even started playing with thinks like the KNS80 but at first glance the weather radar seems more full featured that we've seen before

As promised things like the fuel gauges bounce around in a very pleasing manner.

I was looking forward to the Steam gauge PC-6 but have finally accepted its vaporware

lol - it's not.  Just because it hasn't come out when you wanted it to, or there haven't been many updates, doesn't mean it's vaporware.

At any rate, regarding the topic - I'm on the fence - I'm really interested because it's a capable analogue aircraft utilizing the TDS GTN Xi.  But I also already have many singles which have similar performance hehe.  We'll see.  I'll probably get it because I'm weak when it comes to flightsim aircraft.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

If anyone else has picked this up are you able to get the KNS 80 RNAV to work ?

Mine doesn't seem to be responding to VOR signals at all even when the standard NAV radios are picking them up.

I'd say it's good start. I personally like it.

Now for a different question.. the gauges are supposedly accurately modeled after the real units, but the KI 256 Attitude Indicator appears to have a blue/brown background at the edges, unlike any I have ever seen.. Is this artistic license, or does this version exist in the real world?  Any pictures I can find have a black background right and left.

I'm concerned about the lack of a visible flight director in any preview....

Wow, great add-on.  The Caravan may be one of my favorite and go to aircraft now.  One of my better purchases!

So, the TBM turned out to be a great aircraft with the freeware mod and now this one with this add-on.  Makes you realize the potential of the default aircraft and also makes you wonder why the heck they didn't come like this in the first place.

I'm guessing relatively a small team had to build and then maintain all the default aircraft to a tight schedule and that just doesn't leave the time to tweak and tune each one properly.
