July 29, 20223 yr For the most part, Live Weather has been fairly accurate for me and has not caused any issues. However, I was just thrown (blown) out of a 2-hour flight during my approach into Abadan. I was on final and all was well - suddenly the aircraft began to be thrown all over the sky and I uncoupled and took over. Then, I noticed I was flying backwards! (The last time I flew backwards was IRL in a 152 with strong headwinds and in Slow Flight). I glanced at the wind indicator - it was indicating a headwind of 150+ Kts! With an IAS of 90 Kts it was no wonder I was flying backwards. I kept the aircraft under control and went to turn off Live Weather. As soon as it was off I went into a dive - I added power and tried to bring her up, but to no avail. I was forced to exit the flight. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Randall Rocke
July 29, 20223 yr Hah! Exactly the same happened to me in Florida just a half hour ago. I thought something was seriously amiss. On approach I was going sideways. I can handle a bit of sideways but this got worse and like you I ended up going backwards. Eventually I noticed winds of 119kts! I fully expect a load more reports any minute now. July 29, 20223 yr Had that too on approach to Basel-Mulhouse, 10 minutes ago. Sucks. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
July 29, 20223 yr This problem occurred to several users last week in Europe and in the U.S. thats just Asobo tweaking things and screwing up at the same time.

I hope not, someone tell them that friday 20 UTC is a time where people usually like to fly. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. July 29, 20223 yr Su10 beta or no? If using beta vote here https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/hurricane-type-weather-in-east-side-of-manhattan-and-brooklyn/531843 Edited July 29, 20223 yr by KERNEL32
July 30, 20223 yr Yesterday evening, KMYL, 98 knot winds on the approach, 58 knots on the ground. Real world weather reported a 4 knot breeze. Not the beta version. Edited July 30, 20223 yr by Reader
July 30, 20223 yr I trhink this happened all over on the servers as was watching 737NGdriver on Youtube with a live stream and as he was on finals to Geneva on Vatsim, he also encountered a 100 knot plus wind which messed things up so he quickly changed weather so he could land. Happened around 8pm UK time i think, something like that. Edited July 30, 20223 yr by ckukmale
July 30, 20223 yr I'had 158 knots above Glasgow last night 😆. It seemed that it was only at a certain limeted altitude. Just below and above (don't recall the altitude but it was under 1000-1500 feet above GL) the wind was more normal at ca 12 knots. Come here you big, beautiful cup of coffee and lie to me about how much we’re going to get done today.
July 30, 20223 yr Yes. Weather has quite a lot of issues, it's frequent to get overspeeds, huge drops in altitude, etc during my flights. July 30, 20223 yr Seems they are tweaking the weather server-side? Hopefully the strong winds were not intented by Asobo. Or there will be a lot of frustrated customers for sure. I've never had the experience of flying backwards in a sim though. Wow. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
July 30, 20223 yr Had that yesterday ca. 19:00Z at Algiers (DAAG) with METAR 060/05kts in MSFS and in reality. I was on final to RW 5 about 2-3 miles from the threshold at ca. 1000ft. Did a go-around (left climbing turn to 3060ft) and ca. 3 miles from the airport while gaining altitude winds became normal again. Tried the approach a second time but the same extreme wind kicked in at the same location as before.

IRL I had a 152 in slow flight and we had a wind that had picked up to the high 40's. As we looked down over the main gear we could just see the ground slowly moving forward beneath it. Yesterday, in the sim, the terrain was moving forward at quite a clip and it took a few seconds for my brain to realize what was happening. A made another flight in the same region last night and all was normal. Fingers crossed that they resolved this issue... Randall Rocke
