Obviously the sim will load somewhat slower than from a SSD. Edited August 1, 20223 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
August 1, 20223 yr I've been running on a standard HD just fine (my current SSD is running OS only). I'm looking forward to upgrading my sim/data drive to an SSD in the coming weeks but flying has been no issue. Randall Rocke
August 1, 20223 yr Thanks….hate to abandon P3D and am not looking forward to the learning curve required from MSFS, but…if this is the future, so be it sherm

At least try it out. The learning curve IMO is not in any way insurmountable. Some things (camera functions) are perhaps less intuitive than others. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

I still have P3D V5 installed, just have not flown it in a while.. 😉 Bert

I play on 1080p resolution on a 23 inch monitor. I am not using AIG though, and I have yet to buy the PMDG 737 (I am waiting for the PMDG 737-800). I am using the FBW A320 though, and I've read the FPS for the FBW A320 is comparable to the PMDG 737. My computer specs are in my signature. For me, most of my settings are on Ultra (Ultra is the highest setting in MSFS). A few sliders, such as Render Scaling, are not set at the maximum for me, because I see little visual benefit if I set it a maximum, whereas if I lower it some, I get a boost in performance. So you can say most of my settings are at the maximum, except for a few settings, such as Render Scaling. I usually get between 48 FPS to 60 FPS, depending on the area I am flying in. So at least for me, playing at 1080p, my hardware specs are more than enough for MSFS. For me, if I don't have Render Scaling maxed out, the jaggy effect on the G1000 is very annoying in even the slightest of turbulence. I'm also at 1080p...for now. I'm not a fan of the performance hit but I know no other way to help this aside from using DLSS in SU10 (but then scenery seemed a bit "washed-out and things like airspeed changes get blurry). Many of my fellow pilots at DC3airways.net have moved over to the platform and seem to like it’s visual assets. So, I have some consulting to do with them, such questions as real weather assets, transfer of P3D flight plans an of course multiplayer flights which I know is possible. I have P3D tweaked to perfection, and I am sure I will depend upon it during the transition period. What is odd is that I have never hesitated to move up the scale from the early MS sim platforms and then into P3D. But now, putting my foot into this particular body of water, seems like a difficult step. I guess I am getting old… (sigh) 🤔

If you’re an experienced pc flyer the learning curve for MSFS is pretty flat. No more hours and hours of tweaking, no more essential add ons, no more process lasso, no more voodoo. Just fly.
August 1, 20223 yr I miss the q400 terribly. But even that isn’t enough to get me to fly p3d anymore. August 2, 20223 yr With the release of the Fenix and PMDG, GSX is really the only thing that I notice missing. Once it gets here, I'll feel just like I'm flying in FSX or P3D...
