I mean, with a popular website like flightsim.to We know that GSX supposes to work anyway and almost everywhere. I don’t understand the selling of the GSX profile. Especially whit this high price. is it something allowed by FSDT? I don't think FSDT can keep people from selling profiles. I mean there's people selling liveries for the MSFS default airbus on Simmarket; I guess Microsoft would have closed that down already if they could. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
September 2, 20223 yr I've been grumbling but I must say that I had a very good experience with GSX this afternoon. EGAA to LFPO in the FBW profiles installed. Re the CTD issue I had none of that. But I did get some sim pauses about a half second long which I have not seen before. Probably just a coincidence and nothing to do with GSX but it did make me wonder. Maybe my system is on the edge? And the pauses have disappeared now I have unlinked GSX? Edited September 2, 20223 yr by jarmstro

It's surely not something we can prevent, even if we wanted. Unless we decided to write a restrictive EULA which would explicitly forbid that but, since we haven't done anything like that, one must assume every user is free to share his own creations in the way he sees fit. I just can't see how we could legally claim copyrights over a file format ( the .INI file ) which is an open standard, containing data created by the author, who spent his own time customizing the airport. The important thing to note is: - We don't get any fees from these sales. - These authors are not getting any help from us, they are using the same tools available to everybody else. This means, being a free market, you are free to decide to not buy a profile, if the price asked is high for you, find a freeware one, or do it yourself. Hm have seen some temporary FPS drop while pax were boarding or deboarding, but not half a second pauses. Could very well have been PG Paris city for what I know. Or did you have that in-flight? Short regular freezes (like: really regular intervals) are usually an indicator of anti virus / windows defender scans of an active program. If that happens again you might want to try to exclude the "addon manager" folder from being scanned and see if it stops. That's just one thing that comes to my mind, had that happen in the early days of MSFS when I had not excluded the community folder from being scanned. Or you could keep and maintain a database so customers don't have to pay?

Haven't been explained clearly enough that what you think it's "simple database", it's basically a recreation of a very big site like flightsim.to ? What would be the point, again ? Just go there to get the free profiles, is that easy. Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook

Just go there to get the free profiles, is that easy. It's no good getting het up. The point would be to take the product to where it should be in 2022. Hassle free. What is the problem here? It's a perfectly reasonable request and absolutely doable. I can't remember who made all the airports I have and can't find them easily on flightsim.to. And even when I download a profile I have no idea whether it's any good? GSX seems to be able to identify third party airports? What's the big deal in keeping a database of approved profiles for them? Edited September 2, 20223 yr by jarmstro

And he will be able to find them easily? And you want him to create a algorithm that can decide if a profile is good or not...? This is getting a bit ridiculous, isn't it?

I accept that that I do not understand what would be involved. But GSX is able to analyse my airports and "exclude" them so yes, I do believe it would be possible for the addon to know who made them. And yes, profiles would need to be tested and approved. Is that too much to ask? I would pay more. Edited September 2, 20223 yr by jarmstro

September 2, 20223 yr @jarmstro please give it a rest. What you are really asking is really huge task and honestly not even worth doing it. As we said, those profiles meant to be shared by users, if you don’t know who made the airport that you bought, well for me is more your problem than GSX 😁 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display
