Getting CTD recently more often

Featured Replies

Well, I've no real idea if server-side issues could cause random CTDs, but it feels like something is off with the servers the few couple of weeks or more. My system has been flaky since SU9, in terms of odd FPS issues, LOD problems etc, plus a lot of "insufficient bandwidth" messages. And now I too am getting a lot of CTDs. Seemingly random, in that I get them in one location, rerun the same flight and it's fine. It doesn't make any difference with the Google Map tool on or off, or which server I use if I do have it turned on.

So like I say, I can't prove anything, but I'd already figured my system doesn't have much chance of behaving consistently well until maybe SU10 comes out, so I'm just waiting on that. And no, I didn't sign up for the beta. If I can't trust the live system I'm certainly not going to risk a beta.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

I had my first CTD for ages a few days ago - I do not have GSX installed.  I have been running SU10 beta without major issues, certainly no CTDs.  At the moment though I am getting CTDs on many flights.  I took the decision to wipe MSFS off my system and re-install.  I manually deleted as many folders & files I could find and did a registry clean up.  I re-installed and put just a couple of addons into my Community folder - result was a CTD on the first flight!

My 3 CTDs on flights between Denmark and Portugal in the Fenix A320 all occured when entering or about to enter Portugal.

Today soon after reaching my initial cruise level - FL350 - over Germany I got yet another very rare event - a sudden change in wind direction and speed that caused the A320 to bounce significantly, although the AP1 channel kept active. I believe that Iast time I experienced such an event was soon after starting to use online weather in MFS, in 2021.

Absolutely,  I love MSFS but am looking forward to the other one.  Asobo/MS will sort this latest CTD issue.

Three consecutive flights all ended in a ctd (ntdll). Two immediately after TO and one still at the departure airport. These were all with the Bing map data. Now I have tried one with the Google map tool and no problems at all. To me it seems related to the Bing map server.

I use the Google Map tool and am getting CTDs after a re-install.

Be careful, I was going to instal the google map app because someone report it as cure, and I read in the app page its commentaries warning of viruses, a real pity if so, and apologies if not and a false positive. In the past the developer introduced publically a PC info gathering and had to remove it by complains, who knows.

I just commented there:

´´Why this webpage flightsim.to says: "This file has not been scanned for viruses. Download at your own risk."?, and their other downloads say "This file has been scanned for viruses and is safe to download.", ¿why people reporting viruses?´´

I don't get CTDs, no PG, no CACHE and only fly in the Amercan West.  Doing a flight from KTEX to KAVX and will report back if any crashes.

I'm using an old old version of the Google App with no problems.

I think I am going to perform a clean clean install of W11 and FS20 and deleting and formatting the rest of disks to try and where FS20 is etc.., I was thinking that too some days ago, I don´t know what more could I do by my side.

Why Peloto?  It's just a waste of your time.  A lot of us are all suffering the same problem.  Wait for Asobo to fix it.
As for the Google maps 'virus', it has been know to show false positives.  The guy would be shooting himself in the foot if he did this to the community.  He would know any virus / trojan would not slip past, so it would be futile to try it.  Lots of people use it without a problem.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I did this over the weekend to no aval, still getting CTDs. It really does seem like something on the Microsoft side.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

I think it’s something related to servers / Bing Maps. Had not had a CTD still while using the map mod 6.0.4. As soon as I use default Bing Maps it CTDs shortly into the flight. Of course this doesn’t prove anything, I’m just saying how it’s been for me.

Note: even payware addons have caused antivirus false positive warnings.

Has Asobo confirmed this? I haven’t had the chance to follow the official forums today.
